So I saw Wanted today with Allan...holy shit that was an amazing movie. I'd go into details but my words do not do the movie any justice. It's just...go fucking see it. There are things that happened that hurt my brain as my body filled with so much adrenaline from the rush of it all. The overall plot of the movie kind of sucked and Allan figured

Is it supposed to be surprising that a film that just came out has special effects much better than a 10 year old film?

it's not that the technology is better, it's how it was used

Granted you could make the case that the better special effects influenced the imagination behind the action scenes but I just feel like Bekmambetov is a better director, even if he made this movie 10 years ago.

here's a better analogy to explain why Wanted had the better actions scenes...Were the Star Wars prequels any better because they had the advantage of 20+ years of special effects advancements?

The pod racing scene is one of the better Star Wars action sequences.

Clearly no amount of special effects will make up for a shitty story, but that isn't what you were saying in your post.

This makes it sound like you're critiquing the visual quality of the film, including special effects, etc. I just thought it only fair to point out that you're comparing the visual quality of movies made a decade apart.

Admittedly I haven't seen Wanted, but it would not surprise me if it looked better than The Matrix. What would surprise me is if it was overall, plot, characters, etc. a better movie.

yea, matrix had a better plot. but this movie was just ahhhh, so beautiful :) as was jolie. jolie was tres jolie
