There is too much political advantage to be had with social issues, and some party is going to be willing to take advantage of bigotry. I'd rather it be the Republicans, quite frankly.

Give it some decades and our generation will be the old fogeys pissed about the kids these days and their techno-organic modifications (although I for one welcome our new cyborg overlords).
