What an interesting question! If purple were closer to orange than pink, then it would mean that pink, in turn, is more closely related to purple than it would be, say, blue or yellow, though I do rather think that it would be somewhere in the middle, don't you think?
Have you never seen a kaleidoscope? The colors shift and swirl into other colors and randomized polygons so much you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get. Or a prism. Have you never held a prism up to the light?
