Joe's surgery went great. 
got there 2 hours before surgery for preping n shit
the procedure itself took an hour and a half
and he rested at the hospital for about 3 hours or so. 
we were pretty much there the majority of the day.
but all in all everthings good, he was in pain which of course is normal
