I'm not sure how to write this so I'll just give it straight from the heart. Over a time period that seems like a split second my life has been turned upside down. Women have always been the thing in my life that has been uncertain and caused me grief, while my future was always planned out and seemed certain. Over the past couple weeks I've been ( Read more... )

Well, for starters, congrats on getting the girl! It seems that both of our luck did a complete 180 within the past month.

Anyway, honestly...regarding rejection notices from college:

This sounds so lame and retarded, but don't get discouraged. A 3.77 GPA is amazing, seriously. I doubt my GPA ever even approached that!

Anyway, you might get into Irvine, who knows. And keep applying for Cal Poly--DO NOT give up on Cal Poly no matter how bad it seems to get. If you want it badly enough, you'll get it.

Think back to your flight training...I know it happened to me, I'm sure it happened to you and every other pilot: we get discouraged and encounter setbacks. These things suck, but we roll with them and continue towards the ultimate goal.

Whatever you do, don't settle for anything less than what you want! I know you'll get in if you keep at it, dude.

Marcus my advice for you is to APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL!!!! Pratically everyone who appeals gets in to the UC's, I'm not sure about Cal Poly, but seriously just try appealing you have a really great shot, and it gives you a chance to show them what they are missing out on. I wish I would have appealed UCD my senior year becuase everyone I know who did got in. And I know you don't think so now but there isn't any shame in going to Las Po, a lot of the people who are there are really smart, they just cant afford to go away to a 4 year college right out of high school. You would be really surprised at how many non-crack addicts there are. And you can always apply for Spring 07 at Cal Poly or UCI/UCSB and just be at Las Po for one semester. There are so many options so don't feel like your life is over. You are super smart Marcus, and you aren't going to fail at life, that I know for sure.
