Welcome to London and all it's shitetastic weather. My offer still stand by the way if you'd like to meet up or anything but you're probably fine on your own. But if you do ever need anything than feel free to ask.
A good place for coffee that isn't Starbucks (but is a bit expensive still) is the cappucinos in 'La Bottega' - an italian delicatessan in Pimlico and Chelsea. Other surprisingly tasty coffee is from Pret A Manger. But I think you'll get a fondness for tea after a while. Earl Grey grows on you. :P
Are you willing to brew your own coffee? I have a few bags of ground coffee beans and always make my coffee that way, I'm also a caffeine addict and need to have access to it 24 hours a day!
I always brew my own coffee at home and had my own coffeepot when I lived in my dorm last semester, but so far I haven't found a coffeemaker in my price range. Once I do though, I will be so happy, haha. I'm an addict as well, I had headaches the first couple days without it which is why I started drinking tea!
Aww man you're making me want some French Vanilla coffee! That really does suck that one has to pay 3 pounds for coffee. :\ I hope you can find an alternative!
