Mine was The Prestige by Christopher Priest. I couldn't put it down. When I was nearing the end, I even took lunch/tea breaks alone so I could read it!
I read the prophet Hosea the other night. He's a good read if you know the situation he's talking about. I find most of the prophets come alive when read aloud.
Mostly this year I read books for research purposes, some of which nearly broke my heart, they were so dull. Malory's "Morte d'Arthur" is entirely over-rated, and a good demonstration of how not to tell a story.

Malory? Please, read TH White instead! Or start at what Malory called book 18, where he finally develops the ability to write.
