[Video clicks on to show Max sitting on her bed, grinning widely, wearing clothes that are clearly not hers, given that they don’t fit almost at all. (She sort of forgot to take her civvies with her on patrol tonight.) Still, with her unerring sense for the amusing, the shirt says “WANTED: Dead & Alive, Schroedinger’s Cat.” It may be three sizes ( Read more... )

I don't recognize the McGinnis name, but I recognize Bruce Wayne. You're from Gotham then, I'm guessing?

Sounds like you have some business with him. I heard he's around, especially since he's got a business in Seattle, so you probably don't have to run in circles trying to get in contact with him.

[Noticeably more subdued. Talking to Bruce, not always a fun experience.]Technically it's called Neogotham the time I come from, but yeah, and I've managed to get a hold of him. Are you from Gotham too?

Neogotham? How farther in time are we speaking about? [He raises a slight eyebrow.] He seems like the type of guy who likes to be ontop of things, so I'm not surprised.

I've been living there for a good portion of my life, so yes.

2050's. 53, to be precise. [A small smile.] He is the sort to be on top of things. Yeah.

So who are you? Maybe I know you from my history books.

Well, with a large business, I guess it would be better to keep up.

Dick Grayson. I don't think I'm the type who'd show up in a history book though.

I guess so. It's hard enough running a one-person tech repair business, that's for sure.

... [Max's jaw just visibly dropped. The Dick Grayson she's met twice is old, scarred, and rather bitter. This - does not look anything like him. She tries to collect herself.] I.

No. Not in my history books.

[He gives her a bit of a knowing smile. Also, putting up a discrete encryption onto this now.]

It doesn't sound like I'm in any history books. But it does seem like you know of me? I'm a bit curious now. Have we met in your time? [Sounds like this is going to be an interesting night.]

Nice encryption. Looks pretty secure.

Not in any history books as Dick Grayson. Robin made a few appearances, though. I only met you a few times in person.

Things need to be secure here. There's a lot of things I'm not very keen on leaking.

How much do you know then? It sounds like you know a lot.[He pauses for a minute.] Your reaction though. I'm assuming that I'm different since you seemed surprised.

I imagine. And - I do know rather a lot. [Smiles a little weakly and waves.] Hi, I'm your friendly neighborhood Batwoman.

[There is no way she's letting him know what happened to him in her future.] You know, it's the future. People change. Everything changes. You're - really young. It's weird.

Batwoman huh? [He'll keep that in mind.] So you're part of everything then. [He's still going to be careful with what he says, but at least he knows that she at least knows the business well.]

When you say it like that, it doesn't sound like the future is very forgiving. You don't mind if I keep asking questions? I can answer yours of course, but I guess I just want to see how all these timelines line-up. [And he has to know what she knows in case.] I'm curious as to know who you know or heard of.

You know how it is. One minute you're helping a friend be Batman and the next you're in a suit chasing down criminals in dark alleyways and crouching on grotesques in the rain.

[She doesn't want to have that conversation very much.] You can ask questions. I - timing being what it is, I'll try to figure out what I can answer safely. I know Babs and you and Tim and Bruce. I'm not aware of any other members of the Batfamily but there's someone here named Jason who says Bruce was like a father to him? But I've read all the files, you and Tim were the only kids he ever adopted where I'm from.

And I know Terry, of course. [Smiling in memory.]He kept following me on patrol last night because he was worried. Bruce was so irritated.

This place doesn't really like to be polite about taking people.

Your timeline is already much different from ours then, because there's more then just Tim and I. [Which means that somewhere along the lines, Jason nor Damian seem to exist for her.] I guess you're going to have to get used to the idea of multiverses now.

It's good to know that someone is watching your back at least. [He laughs a bit.]

Yeah, it isn't. Someone should teach it manners.

More? That's - that's pretty schway. [it means the Joker thing probably didn't happen! she's pretty sure. smiiiles from her.] I like your timeline already! Multiverses schmultiverses, my life has been insanity for a couple years now. I can handle more. Hopefully.

Yeah. I miss him already. We work well together.

I doubt it would listen, even if we tried.

I'm not sure if you should. There's still a lot that goes wrong. But hey, it is Gotham. You'll have to. There isn't really a way that we can get out ourselves, although being imported in and out seems to be common. I've apparently been here more then once.

He might show up eventually.

[She laughs.] Yeah. Gotham just can't stop being a dangerous place to live. There must be a homing beacon for villains buried somewhere in the foundations.

That would be - pretty great. Though I don't think I'd wish this place on anyone.
