earlier today, i added university of chicago to my interests list. because it's friday night, which should mean something but doesn't, i was a little more bored than usual, so i started looking through the live journals of people with university of chicago on their lists. i was expecting to find at least a few readable ones, or some people i know ( Read more... )

This made me laugh really hard (well, not really, but it made me think about laughing and may have actually gotten me to crack a small smile, so that's good enough). I'm both impressed and appalled that you went through the entire list of 177 people, especially knowing that these people might actually have had something to do with U of C. I loved the place and all, but do you really want to know what all those Hyde Parkers are actually thinking and writing when they're not thinking and writing academic mumbo jumbo? I shudder to think that someone who's opinion I actually valuerespectfear might stumble upon my journal. Ack.

Oh yeah, "the cat in the hat" reviews cracked my shit up, too.

So you worked at whpk, too? Figures. What format?

it was weird. it was like once i started, i just couldn't stop. each new disappointment just spurred me on. and after a while, it got to be sort of funny and amazing how ridiculously dissimilar these people were to what i think i was expecting.
about hpk, i left in the spring, but i'd been there for 4 years. were you there then?

I actually have a really hard time reading real life friends' journals because they usually lower my opinions of them. Whoops. Ah well.

Yeah, I was at the station through Spring 2001, when I graduated. I keep thinking about going back to do a show, but it'd be such a pain in the ass now that I don't live in HP.

this isn't the comment that this makes sense with, but the real one didn't show up. that's cool that we were at hpk at the same time. and even more, that if you played any of the bands on your interests list, then i probably listened to your show at least a few times. coincidences are fun.
