The only way to get good practice is through playing fake. But, don't play fake on a regular table because you're absolutely right, playing with money that doesn't mean anything makes players play differently. You need to play in a fake money tournament where winning and losing does mean something. And, .50/1.00 tables are pretty inexpensive to practice on.

As for Hooters, it's more a one time thing. There really isn't anything special about it besides the brand name.
