I have to sub tomorrow, so I should be sleeping. But since I didn't get up until after noon, I can't right now. During my futile attempts at sleep, though, I was thinking, as we're all wont to do. You appear to be using the word "reason" as a substitute for "self-interest." The so-called "moral values" many voters espoused are actually rooted in revelation, not reason. If you've ever get into a debate with a fundie, you'll quickly see reason replaced with an obstinance, and a belief in the supernatural, that can only be called stupidity.
