Last year when I read all of the wonderful Big Bangs I was determined to give it ago the year after, despite how utterly scary the idea of doing illustrations was to me. (And still is. lol) But a year later and I've just completed my first Big Bang!
OMG I actually can't believe I've done it! Now that everything's finished (well most of it, even as I write this post I'm making some last minute changes ^.^) I feel it's safe to reveal that I honestly wondered whether I would ever finish it. Seriously, Big Bang couldn't have happened in a worse month for me. In July I was working full time, had friends from across the world visiting me, went on a holiday and to top it off, a week after the artists and writers were finally paired up I got my first paid commission which was to be completed by the beginning of August! (fyi, I draw portraits usually :D) So yeah, it's pretty safe to say I was FREAKING OUT!!! But the last thing I wanted to do was admit that to anyone because I knew then I wouldn't be able to do it all. So instead for the last month and a half I have been on a regular schedule of work, drawing, sleep, work, drawing, sleep, work, drawing, sleep.....ect. I think my friends think I may have died or something. lol
But anyway, enough about that because guess what, I did it! Holy Moly I did it! And I'm not too disappointed with the end result! The only thing I wish is that I had more time to do more drawings for the story because it's utterly brilliant and sparked so many ideas for me when I was reading it, I was spoilt for choice! XD So please go check it out. It's called
'When The World Comes Crumbling Down (I've got you to piece it back together again)' and was written by the wonderful and talented
charma_10 and
lower_case_d . Who have both been incredibly paitient with me while I've pested them constantly with questions and not been put off by my long stretches of silence as I panicked on the otherside of the Atlantic. So thank you both, it's been a joy to work with you. And of course thank you to
the_muppet for actually putting
Merlin Big Bang together, single handedly! It's such an accomplishment, I really have no idea how she does it but I'm grateful all the same.
Warning: Drawings contain spoilers for story
As soon as I read the beginning of the story, I knew I wanted to draw Arthur playing the bass. It's just too much of a gorgeous idea not to! >.<
Not my traditional style but OMG this part of the story broke my heart so much when I read it, I just had to do something for it that (I hope) would encompass the whole atmosphere of the scene. And of course it had to be this vivid scene....
He closed his eyes and felt his extremities tingle as magic built inside of him. When a sob finally forced its way up his throat, the light bulbs in the room shattered across the floor. Moments later, the door burst open and Lance came rushing in, looking around frantically for any sign of a disturbance. When he found no intruder his eyes sought out Merlin’s slumped figure.
"Merlin! What happened?" Lance asked breathlessly, eyes wide when he saw the glass on the floor illuminated by the lights from the hallway behind him.
These are the chapter breaks, only in the story they're split into 11 sections for the 11 chapters. So as the story progresses, the plant grows....or should I say wilts....
These took a lot longer than I thought they would, each stage of the plant had to be drawn and then animated. And until a couple of days ago, I still hadn't finished them! But I've only got myself to blame really. As soon as I read about Merlin's little allotment on the roof, and growing tomato plant, I couldn't help but want to draw it. And of course it had to be animated, to see it growing. *sighs and rolls eyes* Oh well, I hope that it works well with the story. Let me know what you think.
