Dirt! Dirt. Dirt.

Ever since I moved into this place I have suspected that my apartment is actually *made* of dirt, with a thin veneer of old whitewash dripped over it. Not that I have been the most scrupulous of housekeepers, mind you, but there have always been places in the corners that simply will not look clean, no matter what I do to them ( Read more... )

Frou-frou and frills! :-) (That's what they say in the musical version of "Pimpernel." My best friend and I were talking about "frou-frou and frills" for weeks afterward.) What a wonderful site. I can foresee wasting -- er, spending hours and hours on this. I think my goddaughter (age 3) may even be old enough to enjoy it. Thanks so much!

It's awesome. It played on Broadway and also toured, and my friend and I saw it on tour. There were several versions, as the composer kept revising it, and I think the last version -- known as 4.0 -- was much better than the first. (You can read about all this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scarlet_Pimpernel_%28musical%29#Productions ) That's why I recommend the "Encore" version of the cast album; although it has two different Margeurites and two different Chauvelins on it, I think it has the best songs and the best flow to it. And it has the same Percy all the way through -- Douglas Sills -- and he is AMAZING.

And that's probably waaaay more detail than you were looking for. :-)

No, that's totally the kind of thing I want to know before I look into the album! Thanks!

I clicked on the Jane Eyre doll out of curiosity, because how interesting could that be, right? Jane always dresses in plain simple black, except her one gray dress for fancy occasions. Apparently though, that's not the case with her paper doll, who wears only gray dresses with big puffy sleeves.

Those *are* some impressive sleeves! I think the Jane Eyre doll is one of the older ones, actually, which look like they may have been done with pen and ink and then scanned into the computer, as opposed to created with image editing software. I can see it being difficult to do details in all black with pens, but then again, maybe the fella was just influenced by all the movies that have been made over the years. (As I have been also, heh heh, since I didn't even remember Jane wears mostly black!)
