PETER ORGANIZE BOOKS NOW!

Ever since Neil Gaiman mentioned LibraryThing on his blog, I've been totally hooked.  This website brings out my inner librarian with a vengeance.  When I was little I would spend hours upon hours cataloging and organizing my books, creating a library that, for some reason, no one ever seemed to visit other than myself.  I would stand and proudly ( Read more... )

Oh, god. I've always been a pretty big slut for libraries and so on; I think I'm going to spend way too much time on this site...

Oh man, $25 is so not a lot to pay for lifetime membership to this thing.

Why must you introduce new tortures onto us man? 201 limit would be a problem... hmm.

My problem with sorting my books was(is) that I have 2 book shelves... and far more than 2 worth of books... and manga.

I run into problems with that too. I have one armlenght-or-so long floor to ceiling bookcase devoted to most of my Doctor Who books and various sundry science fiction, and two of the smaller fold-out Target bookcases, and I have long ago run out of shelfspace. I have books piled up on, around and under my desk, piles of books that reach taller than the bookcases, books stuffed behind and under those on the shelves, books piled on top of my comic cases, on top of the printer and computer tower... Yeah... I have no idea how many books I have, but it's got to be somewhere around 1,000. Even more if I include all the children's books over in the milk crates.
I'm starting to develop more comics than I have storage capacity for, and I've run out of CD tower space as well. I think there's a theme here. :D

The ones on the shelves still sport my arcane sorting system, but those out of them sport another system: whatever's been used most recently is on the top.
