The main reason we haven't swapped to that style yet is that we'd lose the sidebar links, which tend to really help with navigation. I do see that a functional top-bar is on the coder's to-do list, so if something we can work with crops up within the next few days, we will consider switching over.
Hello! I hope I'm posting this to the right channels (kick me in the butt if so and I apologize so hard) but I had an idea.
I think this has been brought up before, but on account of me being ill or busy we haven't officially started this until now. But basically Amy and Lee and I are starting a plot where Rochelle, Snow, and Lois all get together to plan on making a newcomer specific TV news network. The three of us have split off what each character is doing for it, and I had the idea of Rochelle contacting the news feed to see if they could get some backing from them. I also plan on writing up some kind of advertisement to go IN the news feed offering jobs for people who would want to work with the network, seeing as it's only three of them so far. The ad may potentially ask about donations as well. Aside from that write-up, what would the outcome be of Rochelle asking that of the people who do the news feed?
As far as the INN goes, they're still a relatively struggling news source in the shadow of AGI's media monopoly, so they probably don't have the resources to support an entire subnetwork unless they're going to toss the newcomers off on some obscure high-numbered special interest cable channel between golf and spanish soap operas. They might offer some limited programming time on their larger stations, like a news segment in their mainstream news, to update on newcomer affairs?
I'm totally cool with featuring the ladies all over the news, though, so as soon as you want to start rolling their slant in, I am all over your help with news.
AWESOME. Okay, cool, I totally understand. Thank you for the info! I think I'm gonna show this to the others before we 100% decide where we are going with it just to make sure we're all on the same page on this newcomer network thing. I think we were talking about a completely new network but I'm forgetting some details off the top of my head. I do like the idea of it being that obscure high-numbered special interest cable channel until they can try to get bigger, personally.
Since the ladies are thinking of a network they've been (actually I can't remember if we had said Snow and Lois have or have not actually done this) secure a building/equipment. Would this make much of a difference?
They can probably rent a small warehouse studio in Sector 8, or borrow some of the INN's production facility. Then it's basically a matter of negotiating with the main cable provider (owned by AGI) to give them space within the 'Independant' block of channels...kind of like when the Travel Channel or something negotiates with your local network provider over whether it will be in the basic or 'extra' cable package. I'm guessing they're starting fairly low budget?
