ROCK ON!

I'm a music junkie, and I like to think I'm observant. There are certain things that I pick up on or find amusing trend-wise. Sort of like going to the rap section of a music store and picking up random CDs and turning them over to count how many songs have "featuring...." on them, as if to make you wonder if a rap artist could make a song on his ( Read more... )

My roommate sophomore and junior year in college was *huge* AC/DC fan. I wish I knew where he was because this kind of statistic would have entertained him. Thanks!

Heh heh, AC/DC were the first rock band I ever got in to. And like many little brothers, it was because my brother liked them. They were almost my first concernt. But alas, I didn't do it and Metallica had to be number 1.

Awww, thank ya mighty kindly, sir. I've been a recluse. I keep telling myself I'll force myself to do one week where I write a post every day. At least one week. We'll see if I can pull it off. I just like posts to have substance and not be all "I had popcorn for lunch. Comment please!" :) So I go for quality, not quantity. You know...like how many AC/DC songs have "ROCK" in the title. That's important!

And don't forget their 1976 hit I think it was, it's a long way to the top if your gonna rock and roll. :-)

That was number 11 on the list. :) I tried to be as thorough as possible. Probably TOO thorough. "R.I.P (Rock In Peace)" is only on the Australia version of Dirty Deeds, and "Rockin' In The Parlour" is and old B-side with their singer BEFORE Bon Scott. Those two songs, I had never even heard before doing my homework. :) But thanks to YouTube I looked them up and gave a listen. And guess what....they sound like AC/DC! :) Well, the one with the other singer was a bit different.

Ah, had to go back to the post to see and yep, you's right, didn't see it on the first go 'round.

Not a huge fan of AC/DC but love #11 quite well. I recall hearing Back in Black and the track Hells Bells so many times back in 1982 that I felt like screaming every time someone played it, it was a HUGE hit at the time.

Yup. I was only 1, but I know that Back In Black is one the best-selling albums of all-time, and AC/DC's biggest seller ever. It came out in 1980. My cousin told me he remember having the tape in his car for almost a year and never taking it out. Hard to believe what a rush job it was. Bon Scott died in February of that year, and the album came out in July. They already had most of the music done, I believe. They were waiting on Bon to come in and do vocals. But still, 5 months to have your lead singer die, record the music, find a NEW lead singer and have him do all his recordings, package the thing and send it out. Not a bad payout for 5 months of work. :)
