Hi. Okay, I have never done this before, so I am a complete newb but I want to be involved.
Here are my questions:
-When may I post my item (for the first round)? I do plan on finishing the work by Friday night. If that makes sense...
-From what I read on the user info is the money goes straight to the organization? I wouldn't have to own a credit card and have the bidder put the money into the account, right? I just want to be sure of it. lol.
-When will the auction end?
-How many rounds will there be?
-Since I will be drawing, will I be sending the drawing to the winning bidder, right? And not to you or the organizations, right? Just making sure... lol.
-And lastly, how much can I post/submit?
Thank you! :)

I write Harry Potter fanfiction. Could I offer a story? If so, how would that work?

Yes, this is a multi-fandom auction, so any fandom out there is welcome! Just wait until we post the Offering posts on Saturday, a story will go under Offering Words, then you follow the guidelines there and comment with your offer.

Hopefully that answered your question, if you there is anything else, just ask. :)

You make some excellent points, ones the mods were just discussing via email! Your second point, in particular; tomorrow we are going to make a post where users can submit charities for investigation. We want to look into all the charities suggested to make sure they're legitimate organizations. We would like to provide more charity options to offerers and bidders, including some operating in countries apart from the US, if possible ( ... )

I'm in for fic offerings for charity--hopefully the viability/purpose/issues with all of them will be worked out soon. I write Harry/Draco, KKM, PSOH and CLAMP, so can write across certain fandoms. Am excited! This sounds an excellent plan and I support it:)

Ok, first of all, I gotta say this is an awesome idea and I love it. Secondly I got some questions.

1) Does a participant who offers have to bid on another offer or not? (because I'm an unemployed college student that doesn't get an allowance and parents will not be willing to supply $$, but I really wanna do something to help so I'm thinking of offering)

2)If I'm offering a fanfic, do I email it straight to the winning bidder?

Thank you so much!

1) No, you don't have to bid if you offer! You can look at it one way; if you can't bid, you can support by offering something. If you don't have anything to offer, you can support by bidding. If you can't do either, you can support by spreading the word!

2) When offering fanfic; you post a comment on the Offering Words post (which will be posted tomorrow, December 4th, around noon GMT), with a comment saying you offer fanfic. You add your details, like in what fandom you write, how much you're willing to write, what category (het, slash, femmeslash or gen) you're most comfortable with, and other things like that. When the bidding round is over, and the winning bid is set in stone - you contact the winner and work out the details. But, we recommend that you don't start your story before your bidder have confirmed their donation, as it might be people defaulting along the lines. We don't want it to happen, but the chance is there ( ... )

Thanks for clearing that up! And thanks for all the other advice! I haven't participated in anything like this before, so I'm worried about messing up... :P Well, I'll go and write up my offering now! :*
