Tips for Infest goers

Aug 09, 2006 11:34

I've put together (well plagarised) a list of things to take and to be aware of for people going to Infest here if anyone's interested.

Feel free to steal/correct/ignore

I know, when you start listing it like that it really does add up.

But I stand by the sort out the outfit thing - it saves unnecessary packing and last minute panics - when I don't do it I end up taking most of my wardrobe and then bringing it all home again - a waste of time and energy and I end up having to wash more than I want to because I've had to mix dirty with clean when I repack to come home :(

With you on the food - although we're getting bread and stuff this time so that we can at least have something to feed people who're badly in need of it.

Grapes are good though - anyone can eat them whatever state they are in so at least you get some nourishment.

When I read this I thought you had a really low opinion of the intelligence of your target audience until I read "This is based on an American list of what to take to a convention." ;o)

It's kind of hard to know how to skew these things TBH because I _know_ there are people out there who won't think to take the very, very basics like toothpaste but hopefully there's something in there that's of use to someone.

If there's one more person who actually gets sleep when they want it because they remembered to bring a sleeping bag then that's a good thing :-)

*grins* Fair enough.
The only thing I have to worry about is if dmh snores or not because I'll be crashing at the Hilton. I'm considering a bit of a holiday and if you're sharing a twin, it's not that much more expensive considering you get an all you can eat breakfast buffet, too. :o)

hotels are nice if you can afford them, and certainly they're an advantage if you want to get some sleep. Still halls is great fun, although I think that the deposit system may mean that people are a little better behaved this year. I'm getting really rather paranoid about it because all the deposits for our group are unfortunately coming back to me (something that wasn't very clear on their paperwork) so I'll be ultimately responsible for getting people their money back - and I do this for nada - not even beer - someone tell me why?!?

Thanks, I'm sure we will.

Maybe next year you can make it, it's well worth it and not that expensive - esp compared to mainstream festivals.
