[Oh boy... snowfall. Talia is as much a fan of the winter weather as many of the other Keep residents; even after being snowed into a Waystation for several weeks.]As much as i enjoy the winter weather, I might advise caution to anyone seeking to visit the lake. The last time we had weather of this nature, it was not as frozen as it appeared to be

[No, really. The drowning was bad enough, but to find out the squid had played with her like an oversized doll afterwards had taken the cake. No, she couldn't say what the creature had been thinking, but the experience had been horrid as a whole.]

You're being over-sensitive, unless you happened to drown in said tea?

As it is, the response is unexpected and Talia actually chuckles.]
No, I daresay I was not drown in said tea... clearly I am seeing this the wrong way.

It's Ezra, yes? [She doesn't look or sound angry as she speaks, because in her mind the entire ordeal was a shitty accident.]
It is sentient and intelligent, although I've learned most of this second hand. I do not believe it necessarily has bad intentions, but I've truthfully not taken the time to try to find out. I've avoided the lake since drowning in it two months ago and having my body used as a tea time accessory.
[Seriously, Mr. Squid, wtf?]

Well, it's not like it was the squid that drowned you, right? ...Unless you just drowned yourself before it got the chance to. Hmm.
[Ezra looks thoughtful. If that was the case, that might be a problem. After a second, he perks back up.]
But if it's sentient, then it's probably fine. It should be way easier to talk to than a regular squid.

Well, it's possible it would have done it on its own, but without knowing for certain, I will not place such blame on it. The drowning was completely out of it's doing... [She won't blame the squid when it hadn't officially drowned her... only played with her corpse.
She looks rather interested when he mentions speaking to it, though.]
You can speak with it, Ezra?

[There is definite unease in Chloe's tone as she remembers that day.]
How are you, Talia? Anything new?

[Though she is grateful she was not played with until she'd already died, who knew if the squid would be so kind in the future... She exhales softly, offering Chloe a slight smile.]
I am fair, Chloe... tired due to my own actions and choices, but otherwise well enough. How are you?

I'm as well as can be expected. I feel powerless here, though. If I had my normal abilities, we'd all be home by now.

There was an unexpected snowfall about two months ago... a fellow Keep resident got himself into a bit of a spot on the lake when his boat became frozen in the middle of it. He tried to leave, but the ice around his boat was too fragile and wouldn't hold his weight... I went out onto the ice to help. [She pauses here to swallow tightly, hands chafing over her arms.]
I got Jack free from his boat, but the ice was unstable and cracked under his weight. I got him out of the water, but was not as lucky as he... I couldn't find the opening in the ice and was blocked by the bottom of the damned boat...
[Don't make her say what happened, Logan... she might be alive again, but drowning had been one of the most terrifying experiences in her life. She'd not been so aware of her own mortality in a long, long time. She exhales, though this time there is a shakiness that she has to breathe through.] ( ... )

Logan is quiet for a moment, before he bites down on is cigar, a little harder than he meant to.]
Well you're all right now?
[That's all that matters....Right?
MaybeRight.]

As to blaming poor Jack, well that wasn't terribly fair, but it wasn't like Talia knew he was saddling the poor pirate with the blame.
Oh, and be nice to the cigar... you'll havet o roll your own if you keep biting them in half, Logan.
She makes a small sound, but nods.]
There were no lasting effects, no... [Besides the nightmares, that is. The nightmares were a total bitch, but that happened when one was conscious of the fact that they were drowning and there wasn't a damned thing they could do about it.]
And it is certainly far from the worst thing to happen to me...
[Was that scary and enigmatic enough for you, Logan?]

Or at least stay away from any damn pirates...
Haven't seen you. You doing all right?

The fact that she didn't know about Vie, Dos and Jack was a small damned miracle only hidden by the fact that your emotions are so damnable swirly right now. She was going to have such a mixture of emotions when all of that came out. For now, though, she only knows about Logan...
At his quip, unexpected though it is, she smiles slightly. She's glad to hear from you, Kevas, even if you're still in the more of blaming she and Nel for all of this. You're her husband and she loves you dearly...]
T'was not Jack's fault, beloved... the same situation could have happened to any of those here and I don't hold him responsible.
[Her expression is easy and she nods to the last without comment.]
As well as can be right now, my heart... I am sorry you feel the need to avoid me so entirely. [There is a brief pause, and then ( ... )

Kevas remains silent for a moment. Either she doesn't know what he's done or she's the most patient woman ever. More than likely it's the first one. He doesn't know whether he should tell her or not. She'll find out eventually, and probably in the worst way possible. It feels like no matter what he does he's betraying her trust.]
Yeah...
[That won't keep him from blaming the pirate but that's not what he cares about right now.]
We did, but I can't really remember what it was over.
[Everything has been a bit of a blur. He remembers doing it just not the reason for it.]
And I...uh...
[More silence.]
I'm going to be gone for a bit longer I think.
[If he can tell Aht then he can tell her.]
