Hey guys. What's this about LJ shutting down? Will my entries be erased?

AND!

What is the best way to back up all my LJ entries with the comments without copying and pasting each and every one into a Word document or something tedious like that?

Yes. LiveJournal is shutting down and all your entries will be erased tomorrow. There is also no electronic way to backup your entries. You better sit down now and start copying them all to a paper notebook, otherwise they'll be gone...

They just released a new app. It seems unlikely that they'd do that if they were shutting down.

Dreamwidth can import and backup your LJ for you, and you can crosspost from DW to here.

I don't think LJ is going to shut down, but it's a timely reminder of the importance of backing up.

I back up semi-regularly to .pdf using whatever seems to be the best service offering this online at the time - sadly, LJ Book no longer seems to be around. I also back up by importing to a Dreamwidth account.
