NEWT students who haven't yet given me details of your special projects, you're running out of time. This is bad. Madam Pince and I need to use the holidays to catch up on research and ordering in new materials, and it is much harder to do that if we don't know what you need. Really bad. She's asked me to remind you about this, and between you and ( Read more... )

...and what? Sat down? Remained standing? Refrained from tidying up?

Um... should I tell him? No, that's selfish. He's having a bad enough time with his parents accused of Death Eaters...oh, Death Eaters ...when are you coming home getting back?

Does it matter? You've noticed that our little houseguest has quietened down somewhat.

I know, but it's not poltergeists that I'm worried about at the moment. It's blood obsessed wizards...

Oh shit.

Oh. Well I already have all the books and such that I need for mine, Miss Spinnet. But thank you for the reminder.

You're welcome, Miss Greengrass. You appear to have things under control, but do let me know if you need anything. It wasn't her who did that horrible thing to Tracey, was it? Or my book? Or my p-photograph? No, she always seems so polite...

I will. Thank you.

You're a lot nicer and more pleasant than Madam Pince. I don't think she likes the fact I keep using the Restricted Section, even though I have permission to.

You're welcome.

Private to Daphne: Well, I think she's just a dragon perhaps too old to remember what it was like to be a student and how difficult NEWTs were. Whereas I'm not. And she's very protective over her books so am I, particularly when it's a leatherbound 1937 translation of The Complete Works of Io Scrivobene and someone WRITES "Mudblood" on it! But thank you for the compliment.

That's horrid. It seems to have upset you greatly... and understandably so. Is the student in question all right? Presumably McGonagall did something about this, because strictly speaking it'd be out of our jurisdiction to handle the issue.

If you'd like to talk about it or to vent or whatever, though, feel free to drop by any time, hmm?

Yes, I assume she's taking measures. I'm just glad I was able to talk the student into seeing a professor because really, what could I have done? Sealed that frame in the drawer before leaving, maybe?

Certainly, but I think that girl is in good hands now. I need a hug.

Well, I'm glad you helped her out, whoever she is.

If you don't mind me saying, you still seem a bit upset about it. Is everything really okay?

No. I can't bear to look at that photograph again and I couldn't take it home with me because I'd feel its presense so it's locked in a drawer at school and even though I know I could find the charm for it I'd always be reminded of the incident when I look at the frame and I'd love to throw it out but it's a very beautiful frame and I-I-

Yes, quite. Thank you, Roger.

I believe that I have already given the specifications for my special project, which shall focus on the effects of theoretical Arithmantic spells on Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'll also be returning those books on Transfiguration theory once I've gotten more used to things soon.

If it's possible, I'd like to reserve Volumes I through III of Thucydides Knapp's Geomantra Historica after hols.

That's a fascinating subject, Miss Granger. It is, but I'm really not feeling it right now. Paste on smile, paste on smile...

Consider it done.

I have all the material I need, as far as I know. I will be discussing some overlooked details with both Madam Pomfrey and Professor Slughorn, so if anything else is suggested regarding reading materials, I'll contact you straight away.

Thank you for keeping me informed, Miss Li. What are you researching, if you don't mind my asking? I'll pretend to care and be interested. Wow, that was harsh. Alright, so I would be interested normally. I just wish this day would stop

I'm studying the effects of some healing potions, and an attempt to modulate their strength depending on the patient's need. Unfortunately, it's going slower than expected because someone (that jackass Gilderoy Lockhart) is stealing supplies from both the Hospital Wing and Professor Slughorn's office.

Oh, that must be so frustrating for you! Not to mention that Madam Pomfrey needs those ingredients to look after her patients like to treat Doxy bites.

But you did pick a very interesting subject, and very useful too, if you succeed in your research. Hmm, healing potions...
