I'm having a fantastic time writing all the dialogue for the third installment of my trilogy, especially the drunk scene, lol. Dialogue is my favorite thing to write, and it almost always comes easily for me. I think part of why I had such a hard time with my second is that there was only one spoken line in the whole thing, and that one was lifted directly from the episode. I started out with my first story feeling very intimidated about writing Ben's dialogue, because there's a certain style to it that you don't want to get wrong, but I think I've got it now. Can't speak to the Luau or anything like that because I'm hopeless at that sort of thing, but it's nice to see how many reposts it's generating in the other fic communities. :D

I think you've told me before about how much you enjoyed dialogue! I'm glad you're getting to do something you love. Drunk scene, hm, sounds fantastic.

You're hopeless at what, filling requests?

I may have, I don't remember. I like drunk scenes as a way to break down some barriers between characters and let them see each other in a different light, but not necessarily as a prelude to sex or anything. Yeah, filling requests or writing to specific prompts is beyond me, especially with time limits. I'm off in my own world, lol.

uhh, writing, what is that, how does it work

I'm probably in the same place my friend was earlier this month: apathetic to the notion of writing fiction. I got my two Big Projects done (valhalla37's fic and the 50 sentences for 1sentence), started on another fic in earnest and then...stopped caring. About writing in general. It may be because whenever I write all I can see is repetitive, unimaginative prose that I can't break out of. And so playing vidya games and exploring new canons seems more worthwhile than my awful prose.

er.

In other news! Since I found out we can do our own meta (/pays attention to things), I am thinking about writing huge meta-y posts about the characters/pairings I like to write. Uh. I like meta a little too much, jsyk.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. I've been finding myself in a similar place, I have the inspiration but not the will to write anything down. I've been trying to write drabbles and small ficlets, maybe you could try that too? In smaller format, perhaps you'll see less repetitiveness.

Hee, absolutely, you can. We usually ask that the writers contact tellshannon815 before they do it, but you can volunteer to write whatever metas you wish to! Oh, unless you want to write them in you own journal, then you can just come and link it here, no problem.

Just to clarify, writers don't have to contact a mod before they post something. The mods solicit volunteers to ensure we have regular postings, but that does not prevent unsolicited posts from happening anytime, either as a link from a personal journal or posted directly at this site. That doesn't happen much lately, but it is quite welcome. So post away boungiorndaisy.

You know I love your writing, so clearly I'll respectfully disagree with those issues your having with it right now, but just wanted to add my sympathy on the finding it difficult to care part. It's just one of those humps that comes and goes, I think. Something's bound to pop up that will make you care again, but it's not like it's predictable or something you can control. Frustrating, for sure. Definitely go nuts with the metas in the meantime/with your fic, because they're always so awesome and thorough!

I've only done two fics for the Luau, sadly (I've been away a lot), but at least one of the two has inspired me to write more in that particular verse! I wrote a Jacob + Esau futurefic AU, and now I'm sort of scribbling some ficlets/drabbles related to that. :)

I usually hardly ever write AUs so it's kinda entertaining for me.

You have a bit of time to write more still! And oh, that's great. I'm always in awe of people who create these sort of AU verses and manage to play with it many times. It looks fun!

(So late, whoops!)

Post-finale my muse has been ... wonky. It's not that there's a lack of inspiration, per say, but fics aren't turning out exactly as I'm aiming for -- which is frustrating -- and I'm finding the writing process more exhaustive than it has been previously. Not to sound like I'm tired of writing, but it's taking more out of me than usual, for whatever reason -- I guess summer is always busier, right?

Heee, the Luau is so great! There's so much good stuff coming out of it -- the only downside is not being able to keep up with all of it! Pretty much every other request has struck some inspiration, but everything I'm writing it turning out waaaay too long, which has pretty much meant keeping up is out the window. ;P
