I believe that charity does effect everything, but is not the cause of all the problems. Sometimes I think that if everyone shared EVERYTHING, things would be a lot better. *shrug*
But there's only so much to go around. There's not enough to give to the undeserved and unearned. I don't know crap about game design, should your job and earnings be open to share to people who cant or arent willing to work, at the sake of you, who have put countless hours and effort into getting a degree as proof of your ability?
I think there's a difference between those who won't work, and people who can't work. But, I pay taxes so that things can be shared, driving on most roads can be free, public schools can be free... that's charity and giving.
Its giving. Its not charity. You are getting something in return.
When you get old, other will pay taxes when you can't work. You pay taxes to pay for roads, you drive on roads. You pay taxes to pay soldiers, the soldier protect you and your right to freedom.
I actually agree with Selena. I think though before I should put in to much of my own banter that reading that book would be a better idea, but As far as your ideas Selena. I think you are right, of course I only have to go off of the small bit you shared. So I may pick that book up, lol I know I will have plenty of time to read it.
I'm gonna warn you once more though, the first half is "getting you up to speed" on all the characters' lives and such. It doesnt start moving till about 400-500 pages into it. But, if you can grit through it like I did, then the second half is hard to put down and totally worth it. ^_^
