You won't hear any argument from me. We spent $4000 on Fred when she got sick (and had no insurance). Our kitties are our children, and you do what you have to do because you love them. What boggles MY mind is the people who won't even shell out a couple hundred bucks when their pets are sick, but would rather just put the animal down. If you don't have the money, then you find a way -- borrow, set up a payment plan, whatever, but the people who feel "Oh, it's just an animal. It's just not worth spending that money on them," honestly make me sick. I can understand not wanting to spend thousands of dollars, as everyone has their financial limit -- even we were reaching close to our limit with Fred, but a couple hundred bucks? Come on. When you take on the responsibility of having an animal in your life, you accept that it will come with some expenditures. Just throwing away that life because you don't want to spend the money is sickening. Don't have a pet then.
