Green Room - Week 1 - Day 2

Feb 02, 2022 13:36

On the same day that I start the mini season, I get a call - from a (recent) former co-worker. She left a few weeks ago, (one of the people that I DIDN'T want to see leave) and wanted to give me the heads up... the boss was also leaving for a new job. In a couple weeks... and *I* was her recommendation as interim supervisor.  :O ( Read more... )

Need inspiration about the new prompt? Have some stuff to say about it and need to bounce it around with others? The Work Thread is a great place to do that. Just comment below!

I'm finding it a bit hobbling that this unusual prompt has two differing meanings/interps.

Doesn't that mean we get to make up our own? :-)

G, congratulations! Seriously. This is the first good thing I've heard you report from the current f-ed up situation. You are a superb leader and I know you would excel at supervisorial roles in your career. I'm pulling for you.

I can't think of anyone better. After all you've been managing this motley crew for nearing two decades. You're a natural!
Congratulations!

Congrats Gary! That is awesome, and you totally deserve it! Hopefully the people at your place of work need less kicking than we all do though :)

Meanwhile, in my neck of the woods, we are preparing for Snowpocalypse 2.0, the sequel to last year's Snowpocalypse the Original. Daycare and schools have already been cancelled for tomorrow. Just hoping the power and the water stays on this year! Though we do have many more bottles of water in our garage than we did last year, so there is that.

We just bought a small generator - something we’ve been meaning to do for a while! State offices are officially closed on Thursday, and since I have a work laptop, I’m working from home Thursday and Friday - huzzah! As secretarial staff, having enough work to fill my day can be spotty, but if I have to use an hour or two of leave time, so be it. At least I’m not spending time or gas getting back and forth to the office.

I'm over here trying to avoid work like the plague - not that there's much to do, it's just all stuff that I don't particularly want to do, and I still have a couple of hours to act like I'm doing something. Man, work is tough sometimes. I did manage to already have an idea for a piece and the prompt ended up fitting my idea pretty well without having to shoehorn something in, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. My entry could probably do with some re-reading and editing, but I have a real problem with going overboard in that capacity, and I'm pretty happy with it as is, so I just posted it.

Now it's just the waiting game.

Wow! I guess I should have checked the postings before I wrote. Still, good on you for coming up with something and posting so quickly.
