I got a message from Livejournal today in Russian. I was so confused. I used a translation app and it was just telling me my most popular entries lately. Usually those are in English. I thought I might be in trouble for a second though 😂
We saw The Batman on Friday during a matinee. It’ll probably be our last fun outing for a bit because France decided to remove mask mandates and get rid of the vaccine pass all of a sudden even though our numbers are rising. Pretty sure the election next month has something to do with that. So back to being a hermit, I guess as much as I hate it.
Glad you had a good trip, Gary. Everyone needs some down time every once in a while, and you certainly deserve it. I'm also extremely glad the Native people are watching out for themselves, as they were particularly hard-hit by the first waves of COVID-19.
Since you mentioned the fear about LJ, I wanted to let everyone know about the LJarchive program, which automatically backs up LJ accounts and comments whenever you run it from your PC. I've found it to be extremely useful.
The other good news is that, even though my author site (alycewilson.com) and literary magazine (wildviolet.net) are hosted by a Russian Internet provider, they're also still online. Hoping that continues to be the case.
I'm glad you had a nice vacation, Gary! And I'm glad you're back.
Life here has been a little rough the past couple weeks. A little less than two weeks ago, my laptop that I use for everything - work and personal stuff - just died out of nowhere, and of course it happened when I was about five minutes from finishing a big work project. I lost so much stuff. I'm still sad about a lot of it.
On the bright side, work bought me a fancy new laptop. On the not so bright side, I am still catching up on work since I had/have to redo so much.
But I have also learned my lesson and absolutely everything is being backed up now. Past!Kristine was not the smartest but present!Kristine is much smarter.
Glad you had an awesome time in NM! I’m on Spring Break this week. Staycation in Cincinnati this year. Just babysitting and hanging out. I hate 💩 Pootin and his war.
