Yeah, she's got some street cred but I'll boil it down this simple (going back to the "can'na hack it" argument of Sick boy and the absolute power corrupts agruments):

First: She's old school celeb. She's had fame, money, and success for long enough to lose her real street cred. It's the same reason why ALL of the candidates are suspect. She lives well while others die struggling.

Second she errs in her analysis of why a black woman (Achora Obama) could never make it to the stage. While she rightly cites the chronology of sufferage for woman and blacks, Steinem fails to acknowledge some factors (whites can easily avoid minorities whereas men actively seek the company of women and visa versa.... the stigma that keeps women from self-identifying as feminists is far more powerful than anything keeping african americans from speaking out on racial issues... that means that these days, racial advocacy has a much more militant critical mass than women's advocacy...)

Not much of a point, just some thoughts.
