are you the dullest person ever?

Hell no! you're not an accountant!

and it actually excites me a little too.... exept, what's the pressure at 150ft? and therefore how thick will the glass have to be? (esp. with the neg. pressure in the tube!) Will there be enough light from the surface to warrent having windows? what will there be to view? If artificial light is being introduced, what possible effect will this have on existing marine wildlife?

god, i imagine it will be segmented, and without ridgid connections to the sea bed, so there will be movememnt due to tide and shipping, as well as natural shit like earthquakes and the like, so there needs to be an airtight stuctural isolator system (i'm thinking of base isolators in earthquake countries).

Maintainance will be a major pain in the arse, i'm thinking of externally mounted rails (or something)for service crews to travel the tunnel externally...

shit.

i got enthused too.

goddamnit.

i'd like to design the termial tho:)

I have to admit.. I thought the windows thing was kinda stupid. 150ft down you wouldnt see much except black... add to that that the trains would have to travel somewhere in the order of 4000km/hr.... seemed pretty pointless to me.

As for the question of pressure at 150ft... well every 33ft you go down presure increases by 1 atmosphere. So whats that... maybe 6 atm at the most? Plus vaccum. I dont think thats all that bad. I think they can build for that, but I'm no expert.

Can you imagine the design that would go into something like this? huge!
