A/N: I'd felt like I couldn't write anything but then this came to my mind when I was watching a movie, so I wrote it down. XD The idea is, well, maybe not creative at all, but I like it. Somehow I feel like I've been wanted to write something like this for a long time ♥ So hope you enjoy it as much as I did ♥
---------------------
He was going to stop everything. This tense, quiet and nerve-wrecking air hung over them, making it hard to breathe. They were too aware of each other’s presence, as if one of them burst out saying something, the other would burst too. The tightness inside his chest only grew more unbearable whenever he took a breath, and it was then he decided that everything must stop. And right now.
"Nino."
He heard the other's hesitant voice, small and quiet as if he didn't want to break that oppressive atmosphere. It was as though Ohno also knew that they would come to this sooner or later, since the day they got together. It was as if they were both waiting for this to come since the first day they confessed their love for each other.
"...What?" Nino answered, his voice tired and close to giving up. Ohno took a deep breath.
"I don't want to."
"What?" Nino raised his head to look at the older man. Ohno also looked tired. He also looked like he had had enough of this. But Ohno never said the words Nino was expecting him to say.
"What do you mean?" Nino exhaled. He didn't know what he was expecting, not anymore. Ohno always confused him, always made his world chaotic and to go off its axis, until he felt like he had lost control of his own world. Now was one of those times.
"This," Ohno gestured "Us. I don't want us to end."
"Satoshi," Nino closed his eyes, avoiding Ohno's intent look on him. "Satoshi, it's no use saying it now."
"No!" Ohno hurriedly said. Nino could hear him panic, though he had covered it with a deep breath "I don't want us to end like this! Not here. Not now. Not like this."
"So," Nino sighed. He curled himself up on the bed, his eyes fixed on the pattern of the bedspread "You mean we should continue? Suffering like this, bearing this heaviness everyday and waiting for something to happen?"
"We're going to make it happen," Ohno said, his voice determined, and so painful that Nino's heart ached. "We're in this together!"
"But how?" Nino scratched his head in despair "How? I can never... You know that. We can't. And as long as you still want that, I can never stop you!"
"I won't give up on you," Ohno said again, and Nino just remembered how stubborn Ohno was. "I would never give up on you."
"You know you are going to do that," Nino said, and he hated how his voice was so full of bitterness. He hated how he sounded so weak. "As long as we can't solve this problem, you will do that some day."
"No!" Ohno cried "Please, Nino, don't say so. Don't even think this way!"
"I can't help it," Nino buries his face in his hands "If you're going to leave me, then the sooner the better. I-If you make me fall deeper and deeper in love with you, then it would be like hell for me w-when you leave..."
"I'm not!!" Ohno groaned in despair "Why are you so certain that I'm going to leave you?"
"Because you will!!" Nino bit his lips and he looked at Ohno for the first time that day. "Do you think that I don't know what you want? You want a family with a wife and children. You want to have your own baby to raise, to teach, and to bring out to fish and play, don't you?"
Nino's eyes were red and his tears would break free any moment, but he didn't care. He looked deeply into Ohno's eyes, his voice broken with emotion.
"You want to be a father, don't you?"
Ohno couldn’t speak. So Nino knew. Nino always knew. And he was torturing himself everyday, struggling with the fact that if they were together they wouldn't be able to create a family like how Ohno always wanted. Nino had tried to convince himself that this was enough, that he was enough for Ohno, but it haunted him every day and night and he knew he couldn't hold this inside anymore.
Ohno's silence was more than a confirmation for Nino. His heart shattered into pieces, but he desperately held a faint hope for Ohno to say what he hoped to hear. Something told him that all the promises Ohno made to him was real. Something told him that Ohno wouldn't give up, and that he loved him enough to stay with him.
But Ohno was silent, and Nino cried with his head buried into his folded arms.
It's the end, he thought. It's already the end.
But then arms wrapped around him and Nino found himself sitting on Ohno's lap, and facing the older man. Ohno was staring at him with his loving eyes. He was well-aware that his eyes were red and puffy and he was a mess, but Ohno didn't let him escape as his hands held onto Nino's waist firmly to keep him in place.
"How did you know?" Ohno asked him, his voice warm and he looked like he was smiling. Nino hated how he still was so weak in front of Ohno even though he had decided to stop, and he just couldn't stop his heart from melting under Ohno's warm gaze.
"You said that in your dream," Nino admitted quietly "You’re more honest when you’re sleeping, aren’t you?"
"Yes," Ohno leaned in and buried his face into Nino's shoulder. Nino's heart picked up its race as he still felt the love for Ohno deep within his heart, but also the answer was so painful it broke all of Nino's hopes. "Yes, I do want that."
"So," Nino held back a sob as he tried to say it as normally as possible, but his painful voice betrayed him "Will you be leaving soon?"
"Baka Nino," Ohno whispered, his voice amused and relieved, and Nino frowned as he felt Ohno smiling.
"What??!" Nino snapped.
"Do you want to know the rest of it?" Ohno raised his head so he was looking straight into Nino's eyes.
"The rest of what?" Nino was fixated on Ohno and he just couldn't tear his eyes away.
"My dream," Ohno smiled, and he continued without waiting for Nino to respond, "Yes, I want to have children, and I want to teach and to play with them. I want to take them fishing and to sing for them before they go to bed. I want to have a family which I could return to from work and feel peaceful."
Nino heard each spoken word clearly and his eyes looked so sad it was heartbreaking.
"But you know what," Ohno whispered into Nino's ear. "I want you to be there with me."
"What?" Nino's eyes widened. Ohno went on with a smile.
"I want to have a family with you," Ohno stroked Nino's cheeks gently. Nino could feel his heart bursting out in happiness. "I want you to be there when I go home everyday. I want to raise children with you because I'd never make a good father on my own."
And Nino's tears welled up again. He hid his face in the crook of Ohno's neck when Ohno continued.
"I want to wake up beside you everyday, I want to share those little moments when our children grow up under our care. I want to have a family Nino, and I want it with you."
Those words were like a love song to Nino's ear, and he had never heard anything sweeter.
"So please don't say that I'll leave you. Because I never will. You're my dream."
Nino couldn’t remember when was the last time he felt so happy like this and he couldn’t hold back his tears. He hugged Ohno tightly, never wanting to let go. Ohno pulled Nino closer until the tip of their noses touched and he leaned in and kissed Nino gently on his lips. Nino was tearing with joy and Ohno gently kissed the tears away.
"Ohchan," Nino cried "Ohchan."
"Hm," Ohno hummed into Nino's hair as he placed random kisses on Nino's face "What?"
"I love you ," Nino murmured huskily "I love you."
"I love you too," Ohno answered quietly. Nino grinned, and their laughter slowly echoed around the small bedroom, the heaviness disappeared and there was only happiness.
"Wait for me," Ohno whispered "I'll ask you to be with me forever..."
Nino smiled bashfully as he pulled Ohno into another deep kiss.
