Chapter 3: Jun
The next morning, Ohno woke up to find his arm numbing under Nino’s head. Nino had gratefully used it as his pillow for the whole night. After seeing Nino wake up at night and crying in fear, Ohno didn’t know how to make of Nino’s life story anymore. At first, he thought Nino was just having a bad nightmare, but it turned out that the other man was really scared - seriously scared. Ohno now had a vague idea that it might be what had happened to Nino before. It was apparently a terrible thing, since it brought Nino to tears… and the man had been shaking violently in Ohno’s hug. Moreover, the scars… Ohno tried hard not to think about it. But whenever he started to wonder about Nino, they appeared in his mind, demanded him to find out who had done that to Nino, and why? Was there any reason for someone to treat a person like that?
Nino stirred slightly before opened his eyes and stared straightly into Ohno’s. He looked confused, as if he had no idea why he was there, lying on a stranger’s sofa and using his arm as a pillow. But after a blink and a warm smile from Ohno, Nino slowly remembered as he smiled softly and managed to sit up.
“Sorry, I didn’t intend to…” He said embarrassedly as he watched Ohno stretching up his arm for the blood to circulate.
“No, it’s okay,” Ohno smiled as he sat up too “You slept well?”
“Yeah…” Nino nodded slightly.
Silence fall between them as Ohno didn’t know what else to say. Should he ask about the incident last night? But what if it would make Nino scared again?
And more than that, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to know it.
Nino wasn’t looking at him; he was staring at his hands, unfocused, as if he was thinking about the same thing with Ohno. He looked lost.
“Hey… What’s wrong?” Ohno asked uncertainly.
Nino blinked before turned back to Ohno and smiled, though his smile was empty and lack of happiness. Ohno suddenly had an urge to know more about Nino - about his identity, about his life, and the reason why he ended up living here with Ohno, not knowing who he was and what he was doing. He could feel all the questions dancing in his mind like a whirl wind, but he couldn’t ask straightforwardly. Last night… Nino had told him that he didn’t want to remember, and if it was what Nino didn’t want to talk about, Ohno wouldn’t push him.
“I don’t know…” Nino replied, his voice wasn’t more than a murmur “Ohno-san, it’s too complicated.”
“What is complicated?” Ohno knitted his brows.
“My memories. My life.” Nino stared at his hands on his lap “That’s the feeling I’ve got whenever I try to figure out who I am. I always come up with nothing but the feeling that it was too complicated for me to get it.”
“But, there is a reason why you’ve forgot all those things, right?” Ohno contemplated it for a while “You just couldn’t simply forget.”
“…What do you mean?” Nino hesitated, a hint of fear flashed across his face.
“Was there an accident or something?” Ohno tried. Although he didn’t think it was an accident, at least not the type in those dramatic movies. Nino was uninjured - except those scars, which couldn’t be caused by usual accident. Nino just had problems with his memory.
“I don’t remember.” Nino shook his head. “I just remember that I was lost… That’s all.”
“It’s hard to tell from just that.” Ohno sighed “Do you want to go to the hospital? For a check-up? We may know the reason why then.”
“No.” Nino quickly refused “No, I don’t want to bother you anymore, Ohno-san! It’s a nuisance enough for you to let me stay here and…”
“Stop saying so.” Ohno cut him off solemnly “You think I can leave you alone out there, totally unaware of neither yourself nor your life?”
“But…” Nino sighed in defeat, but he stubbornly shook his head “I really appreciate your kindness, Ohno-san… But I’ll try to find my memory back by myself, as soon as possible.”
“It’s Ohno.” Ohno corrected softly “You don’t need to be so formal. It’s… uncomfortable.”
“Oh… hai.” Nino nodded. He kept quiet for a while before raising his head to look at Ohno.
“Can I have a job?”
“Huh?”
“Can I have a job?” Nino repeated, his eyes pleading “Can you help me to find a job? I can earn some money, and by that I won’t bother you so much…”
Ohno was about to say you don’t need to, but Nino’s pleading eyes were making him hard to say so. Considering it carefully, it was no harm - Nino was okay to work, and he could have a job in which he could meet people, and it was easier for him to have chances to meet a person he knew…
A great idea popped up in Ohno’s mind, and he grinned at Nino.
“I know a great job for you.”

The coffee shop was still closed, since it was still early in the morning. They were standing in front of the glassy door and with Nino looking at him questioningly, he knocked twice.
The door opened after a while and a man appeared behind it, his eyes sleepy and he seemed irritated as whoever it was waking him up at this time. He was still wearing his pajama, but he had a leather jacket on so he still looked somewhat fashionable. When he saw Ohno, his eyes softened and he opened the door wider for them to enter.
“Why so early?” He grunted when two men stepped into the cozy shop as he closed the door behind them.
“Jun, I want to ask you a favor.” Ohno began, his hands hold Nino’s and he squeezed in assurance. “This is Ninomiya.”
Nino and Jun shook hand, with questions in Jun’s eyes and uncertainty in Nino’s. Ohno continued with a smile.
“Jun, can you let him work here? He’s looking for a job.”
“Huh?” Jun’s brows furrowed as he pondered over the idea.
“You’re searching someone to help you running this place, right? Can you let him try?” Ohno insisted. He knew that Jun would never refuse him, the younger man always tended to indulge him, even though he was the older.
“Oh, okay.” Jun sighed “When will he start?”
“As soon as possible, sir,” Nino’s eyes lightened at the news. Jun looked at him curiously.
“It’s Jun. Don’t call me sir… It’s kind of embarrassing.” He shrugged and came to the bar “Well then, I think I need to show you a little bit about your tasks…”
When Nino followed Jun to learn where things were arranged, Ohno’s phone rang. He fished it out of his jacket and realized that he was about to late for his job.
“I’m leaving guys,” he informed hastily while reaching for the front door “See you this afternoon.”
“Ohno-san!!!” Nino suddenly called, made both men stared at him curiously. A faint pink covered Nino’s cheeks as he looked down shyly “Sorry… Just… Have a good day.”
Ohno smiled and nodded, then rushed out of the door, not noticing the lost look on Nino’s face at the moment he stepped out and left Nino alone there with a new friend.
--------------------------------------
“You and Satoshi have just met?” Jun arched his eyebrows at the young man, who was cleaning the glasses carefully. Nino looked up to see Jun staring at him, and to be honest, it scared him a little so he looked away hastily.
“Hai… For about a month till now…” He murmured, pretended to focus on the task in hand. There was something in Jun’s eyes telling him that he better didn’t say much about he and Ohno’s relationship.
“He has never told me.” Jun said. He looked really disappointed “He has never told me about you.”
“I guess… it’s because he doesn’t think it’s such a big deal.” Nino answered hesitantly. He could vaguely understand Jun’s feeling, by the way the other man tense up when knowing that he and Ohno were living together. “It’s just… he has been helping me so much since then, because… I’ve some problems…”
“What problems?” Jun asked curiously. Nino didn’t want to dig further into the topic, so he just shook his head.
“I don’t really know it myself.”
Jun looked at him questioningly, but the man didn’t ask more. A guest chose that moment to enter so Jun went to take the order, leaving Nino there with the tasks on hand. Nino’s mind started to wonder, just how long he could keep everything like this. Life seemed so easy for him now, with each day spending with Ohno almost peacefully. Except last night the nightmares showed up and Ohno had let him using his bed and his arm to calm down. Nino couldn’t tell Ohno how much he was grateful, he could only do some tiny things like this to pay it back what he owed Ohno. And he knew he owed Ohno a lot.
Jun had come back to the counter and eyeing him secretly as Nino felt his face burning. He knew what it meant, and he also got what Jun was worrying. He didn’t want to make any misunderstanding… He didn’t want to bring trouble for Ohno, so he turned and faced Jun with an assuring smile.
“Jun-san, there’s nothing between us.”
Jun’s face reddened as he looked away, a trouble smile appeared as he tried to hide his embarrassment.
“Well, it’s… not like…”
“You like Ohno-san, don’t you?” Nino smiled at Jun, feeling guilty tightened at his stomach for no reason.
Jun didn’t answer, but the way he tried to avoid Nino’s eyes was evident enough. Nino could do nothing but smile, ignored the sudden tingling in his chest.
“Does he know?” He asked softly.
Jun shook his head quietly, and his eyes roamed around worriedly as though checking if there was someone around. When he saw nothing except the two of them, he sighed.
“How long has it been?” Nino continued with a conversational tone, though he could hear his heart’s beat against his ribcage.
“More than a year already…” Jun mumbled, and then he gave Nino a warning look “Don’t you dare tell him that.”
“I won’t,” Nino promised “But isn’t it better to let him know?”
“It’s not the time.” Jun sighed in disappointment, and then he changed the topic rather quickly. Nino somehow felt grateful, because by some reasons, he didn’t really want to talk about that either.
