Chapter 27: Please continue living
It wasn’t a trap.
When Ninomiya approached to the emergency room, he could see clearly from outside, his father’s guards were standing around impatiently. The doctors and the nurses were running around the room, they hurriedly injected something into someone’s vein. When he got closed enough, he realized a person was laying on the white bed. A shiver ran down his spine , at the same time he found himself unable to think properly.
It was his father, his body was covered with blood. His face was hard to recognize because it was swelling seriously, blood was still oozing out from the broken nose, his eyes were half-opened, and it seemed like he couldn’t see clearly. His arms looked broken, many lesions were seen on his hands and he hardly moved his fingers. His legs were wrapped with white bandages, but Ninomiya could still see blood seeping through the cloth.
He was seriously injured, and Ninomiya, for the first time in his life, felt the despair in his heart rising uncontrolably. Never, even with his heart disease, never ever in his life he could feel this much frustrated. Like everything around him slowly disappeared, even the person who cared about him the most on this Earth.
Ninomiya’s legs seemed unable to support his weight anymore. He flopped down on the floor, his eyes fixed on the motionless body of his father. A mixture feeling of regret and pain was spreading in his heart. Jun hold him from his arms tightly, the man supported him wordlessly, but Ninomiya couldn’t really care. Now for him, it was all about his father who could leave him forever at any moment, just like his mother did before.
“He had been searching for you,” He heard one of the guards saying, that voice was somewhere faraway. His mind was covered by a cloud and he couldn’t really make out what the other was talking about “He thought you had run out of the hospital, and he was worried that you may collapse any time because your heart was getting really bad lately.”
He couldn’t believe it, he couldn’t listen to it anymore - he didn’t want to know, he didn’t want to accept that he was the reason behind his father’s accident…
He had no idea how he had approached his father, his hand came to his father’s, and he took it without thinking. He didn’t know what was happening, this was so unreal, this wasn’t right… This must’ve been a dream. His father was strong. He was an unbelievably strong man, who would never ever give up, even when he had to fight with death. He was the strongest man Ninomiya had ever known.
His father just couldn’t die. He still hadn’t asked him yet… He couldn’t let him die like this, he couldn’t…
“Kazunari…” He heard his father’s voice, and he snapped out of his haze immediately. Until then he didn’t realize tears had been rolling down on his face when he got the fact that his father might leave him forever. He kneeled down, his face near his father’s, and he thought he saw his father’s tears, too.
“Dad, please don’t die, Dad, they will treat you soon…” He shook his head desperately, as if his action could somehow save his father. He wasn’t so sure of what he was saying, instead he just knew that he was pleading, he was praying by all his heart. His mother had died long ago, and his dad was his only family. He never wanted him to die… He might not like his father’s action and plans, but it hurt him terribly seeing his father like this. It was so unbearable for his already fragile heart.
“Kazunari…” His father whispered again, and Ninomiya cried harder “I… I just want you to know…”
“Dad?” Ninomiya strained his ear to listen to his father’s weak voice “Please, Dad…”
“…You are her only son…” His father murmured. “Only son…”
“Dad?” Ninomiya couldn’t stop the shaking of his hands. He hardly registered Jun’s hand on his shoulder. All he could see now was his father, who was trying to tell him something so precious and important.
“… That’s why I love you, Kazunari…” His father whispered, a single tear rolled down from his eyes “Sorry… son, live your… life well… will… will you?”
“Dad, please, Dad…”
“Use my heart…”
Ninomiya shook his head frantically. He couldn’t. He wouldn’t. This wasn’t right. This was not going to happen. No. No. No. No.
But no matter how much he denied it in his heart, his father choked out his last breath.
“…to continue living…”
And with that, his hand left Ninomiya’s and falled down onto the bed. Ninomiya couldn’t stop his tears falling as he was hugging his father tightly, ignored the hurt he started to feel in his numbing chest. The pain was there again, clearly this time it was intolerable. Along with his father’s death, it was growing and growing, until he could feel his heart breaking when he fall into Jun’s arms, totally lost his consciousness and he couldn’t hear anything around him anymore.
----------------------------------
Everything was pitch black.
He didn’t know if his eyes were open or close. He didn’t know if he was sitting or laying. He didn’t even know if he was still breathing.
The pain was still there, in his chest, but this time, his heart didn’t beat unevenly anymore. It was beating steadily in rhythm, and it surprised him that he wasn’t suffocated anymore.
He felt strangely at peace.
He tried to move his hand. It didn’t work. He tried to move his toes, and he couldn’t do it either.
He tried to open his eyes, but his head was stunning. He felt like he was swimming, swinging, and whirling, and all he wanted to do was sleeping.
So he did. Once again he let the darkness took control of him, and he drowned into a world of dreamland.
And he saw...
His mother was standing there, covered in light, looked like an angel. However this time, she wasn’t alone anymore. There was someone standing beside her, and when he concentrated, he realized that person.
It was his father.
They were waving at him, the warmth radiated from them, it cheered him up from his core. And in return he was smiling and he was waving back. His father put a hand on his left chest, and whispered something. He couldn’t hear it, but by the way his father’s mouth moving, he knew what his father was trying to say.
Please continue living.

A/N: So... anyone expect this?
As for me, this is the ending. This is where everything was finished and they turned back to their normal life before everything happened.
But also for the sake of my heart, it's not enough when I still haven't seen their happy ending together.
So I won't end it here. Please read the
Epilogue to know what would happen after the end :D
