Chapter 8
That night, Ohno couldn’t get any sleep. He kept turning and tossing on his bed, even listened to Nino’s breathing from the other bed, in fact he really wanted nothing but to crawl into the bed with Nino, slipped under the cover and felt Nino’s warm body beside his. However since he wasn’t sure whether he would be able to control himself or would not when Nino was so close like that, he just knew it would be better if he stayed on his own bed.
He still hadn’t believed that Nino liked him - it was half a year now since the first time they met, and Ohno knew clearly that Nino really hated him at first. Time flew and the harsh look on Nino’s face had changed into a gentler one, and Ohno couldn’t notice since when but they fell in love with each other, just naturally, as if it was meant to be like this.
Nino stirred on his bed and Ohno turned to look at the younger boy, admired how he looked so adorable even while he was sleeping. Nino rolled to his side and opened his eyes a little to see Ohno staring at him. He chuckled sleepily.
“Satoshi, it’s creepy.”
“You’re cute,” Ohno admitted, and Nino was a little more awake now when he opened his eyes fully and looked at Ohno curiously.
“Can’t sleep?”
“Yeah,” Ohno smiled. Nino closed his eyes again and when he looked like he was about to fall asleep again, Ohno spoke, more to himself but he thought Nino was still listening, anyway. “I still can’t believe it.”
“Hm?” Nino murmured “Believe what?”
“That you like me,” Ohno said with a grin, and Nino gave him a kittenish smile.
“Baka,” Nino said. Nino looked so cute that every of Ohno’s reason left him as he sat up and came to Nino’s bed. Nino noticed Ohno’s action, so when Ohno approached him with a smile, he opened his eyes widely, fully awake and looked cautious. “What?”
“Can I sleep with you?” Ohno said, and when he saw Nino’s blush, he hurriedly corrected himself “I mean, just… sleep. I can’t sleep, you know, and…”
“I know, idiot,” Nino said with a chuckle and he squeezed himself closer to the wall to make room for Ohno. Ohno, with a content smile, immediately slipped under the warm blanket and made himself comfortable beside Nino. Then he turned to his side for facing Nino and his arms wrapped around Nino’s waist on their own. He heard Nino’s heartbeat started to beat faster and he smiled in content, his face buried into the warmth of Nino’s body, he took a deep breath and then slowly let himself being drowned into a deep sleep.

“You slept with him???” Aiba squealed and Nino had to put his hand over his mouth to stop an overexcited Aiba.
“Don’t say it like that, okay!!!” Nino snapped, it was already late, though because now Jun was giving him his smirk, as if he said I knew it!, and Nino hated that smile so much but he couldn’t bring himself to really be angry. The afterglow of last night was still there and he found himself grinning like an idiot when reminiscence of the whole situation, when Ohno slipped onto the bed with him, when he hugged him in his arms…Everything was like a dream. When he woke up the next morning and Ohno was still there, he couldn’t help but grin and hug the other back until they both were laughing and got up to go to the school.
“So, did you do anything?” Aiba asked, hopefully, and Nino had to roll his eyes at his friends.
“We did just sleeping!! You pervert!”
“You can’t say if the next time it would only be sleeping or there would be more.” Jun added and when Nino’s face turned a deep red, Jun and Aiba gave each other a high-five victoriously.
Nino couldn’t find anything quickly enough to say back, and he didn’t need because Ohno had chosen that time to enter his classroom.
“Kazu… Eh?” Ohno looked surprised when both Aiba and Jun were giggling and threw him a finger-up, when Nino gave his back towards him and seemed like the other boy didn’t dare to look at him.
“Good job Ohchan!!” Aiba squealed and Nino pushed the other boy aside and ran toward Ohno, took his hand and they rushed out of the room without giving the other boys a second glance. Since Ohno was dragged to wherever he had no idea, he asked Nino, confused.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, those idiots,” Nino muttered, his face was still red but he didn’t look really annoyed. He looked shy, and Ohno just felt like he had fallen in love with this boy a little more.
“So, where are we going…” Ohno started, but he was cut off by a familiar boy and they both stopped at their tracks.
“Ohno-kun!!”
It was Sho who was approaching them with a wide grin on his face and Nino glared at Sho, clearly annoyed. Ohno squeezed Nino’s hand as if he tried to say it’s okay, and Nino calmed down a little, but the way Sho’s look at his Satoshi was still quite irritating. So when Sho smiled at him, Nino didn’t really smile back, his lips just curled up a little. But Sho looked like he didn’t mind, because he was talking enthusiastically to Ohno, who seemed a little perplexed.
“Ohno-kun, will you attend this upcoming concert of music club?” Sho asked, his eyes brightened at the idea and Nino frowned.
“What?” Nino repeated “Upcoming concert? I haven’t heard of it!”
“All the members of our club will attend,” Sho informed with a smiled “And because Ohno-kun hasn’t join our club officially yet, I have to ask if he want to…”
“Eh?” Ohno looked quite surprised at the invitation, since he wasn’t really good with any instrument. But Sho gave him an encouraging pat on his shoulder, and Nino’s eyes glared up at that.
“You can sing,” Sho said “We haven’t had a singer for our club, and since your voice was really good at the audition…”
“You went to the audition?” Nino rolled his eyes at Ohno, who looked as if he didn’t even remember the incident himself “And you didn’t tell me anything!”
“He went because I insisted him,” Sho explained, but Nino wasn’t pleased with Sho’s answer “So, how’d you think?”
“Will you attend it, too?” Ohno suddenly turned to Nino and asked with his sheepish smile and Nino could feel his cheeks flushed.
All Nino could do was to nod.

“Nino, you’re sulking,” Ohno sighed and followed Nino to the terrace, where they always stayed for the lunch since they got together. Nino didn’t look back at Ohno but stormed right to his favorite spot and sat down.
“Hey, I didn’t tell you because I didn’t have a chance, not because I wanted to hide it from you,” Ohno said defensively.
“I know,” Nino shrugged. Of course he knew. He wasn’t annoyed by that little detail that Ohno didn’t tell him about the audition he had attended, but it was a totally different reason. And he didn’t think he had to explain because really, Ohno had to figure it out himself!
“Is that about Sho?” Ohno’s smug smile told Nino that he already got the explanation. Ohno looked like a little self-satisfied, and Nino stick out his tongue and then ignored the other boy, he focused on chewing his food.
“I think he likes me,” Ohno continued with the most innocent voice on the Earth, and Nino almost spurted out what he had in his mouth. He rolled his eyes and squinted at Ohno.
Despite how angry Nino looked like, Ohno just laughed.
“You’re cute,” Ohno commented, and Nino had to stop himself from rolling his eyes again “Really.”
“It’s not the point!!!” Nino blushed and turned away from Ohno, tried to hide his red cheeks from the boy because really, Ohno knew just how to make him blush so easily.
“It’s the whole point,” Ohno grinned and started to pick his own food “It says that you are cute, and I love you when you’re blushing like a girl like that.”
“Hey!!!” Nino grunted “I’m not a girl!”
“No, you are not,” Ohno agreed easily “But you are cuter than a girl.”
“You don’t say…!!” Nino was about to argue when a piece of bread was put into his mouth. He could only roll his eyes and chewed it when Ohno laughed again.
“It’s okay, I don’t care if Sho likes me or not,” Ohno grinned “I just care about you.”
And Nino blushed again, this time he didn’t protest anymore but obediently ate his lunch. Ohno looked thoughtful before he asked again.
“You will join the concert?”
“Of course.” Nino nodded “It’s been a while since I attended one. Didn’t have much inspiration.”
“And now?” Ohno winked. Nino felt like he wanted to pinch Ohno’s cheeks until the other boy promised to never tease him again. But because he loved this side of Ohno too, he just shrugged.
“Well, you know it.”
“I don’t,” Ohno insisted “Really.”
“It’s your own business,” Nino grinned.
And Ohno stopped, didn’t say anything that Nino had to ask himself if Ohno got angry with him, but then he felt his lunchbox being left off his lap and being put aside, and when he raised his head in surprise he saw Ohno all over him, Ohno’s hands on his and kept him from moving.
“W…What???” He stuttered. They weren’t in a secret place and it wasn’t like they were safe to do anything - well, what kind of thing anyway?? - here and yet….
“It’s my own business?” Ohno asked solemnly and it sent a shiver down Nino’s spine “Seriously?”
Nino couldn’t find his voice to answer. So he just shook his head frantically. Time stilled when Ohno stared into his eyes for another good two seconds and then, Ohno burst out laughing.
“Oi!!!” Nino protested, his hands were still hold tightly by Ohno’s and he couldn’t move. Only then he realized Ohno was teasing him again. He pouted. But when Ohno leaned down and kissed his lips softly, Nino closed his eyes and forgot that he was trying to escape, that they were easily spotted and that Ohno was all over him. He just enjoyed his time when Ohno kissed him gently, and when they parted, Nino’s face couldn’t be redder and Ohno’s grin couldn’t be brighter.
