Thoughts for my routine...

This journal may come in handy in that I can test out some humour that rattles in my head and see if it's worth fleshing out when I start doing stand-up again.

I don't usually tread into politics, but with the election just a couple of weeks away, I started thinking this... (credit to mightybaldking for inspiration)

The trap that conservatives often fall into, is the idea that there is an endless amount of government waste to cut, and a slimmer budget will always force people to work better. It's like a real cheap-ass father who keeps throwing things out to save on space.

"Dad! What did you do to my bike?"

"What? It fits in the garage better now."

"But it only has one pedal."

"So? It still works. You can ride it just fine."

"But I won't be able to keep up with the other kids!"

"That's cause you're not working hard enough."

Of course, it's hardly perfect on the other wing. Sure, I'm a lefty, but I've often seen socialists getting caught up in the belief that everything can be made better through regulation. It's like an overprotective father trying to teach you to ride a bike.

"Okay Dad, I think I got it. You can let go now."

"I'm right here, son."

"Dad, you can let go."

"I'm right here, son."

"Dad, I want to go faster! I can't keep up with the other kids!"

"I'll get them to ride at your speed then."

"Dad, no! You're embarassing me!"

"But you'll all get there together."

Hmmm, I'm not exactly thrilled with the end... but is it even worth it to fine tune?
