NAME: Julia
AIM SCREENAME: DesignatedVictim
CHARACTER
NAME: Misa Amane
AGE: 20
GENDER: Female
ROLE IN CANON: Antagonist
FANDOM/MEDIUM: Death Note manga
TIMELINE PERIOD: Misa comes from the point in the series shortly after Light is established as the successor of L, during the timeskip between story arcs.
ABILITIES: Misa has the Shinigami Eyes that allow her to see the lifespan and true name of any living person floating above them. In order for it to work, the person being looked at must be recognizable and not have their face obscured. This also works on photographs and video footage, though nothing at all shows up if the person is already dead.
A reasonable extrapolation of her power leads to the fact that she won't be able to see anything for anyone undead, anyone resurrected, or somehow has literally died before or after coming to Pluto. Also, the eyes will just plain glitch on immortal people, or nonhumans.
She is also in possession of a powerful tool, a few pages of a notebook known as a 'Death Note' concealed cannily on her person. Though there are a number of rules revolving around the use of the note, long story short is that writing person's name down in it with their face in mind will end their life.
CHARACTER HISTORY: As a girl, Misa led a relatively good life. As one of two daughters in a family of four in Kyoto, she had a perfectly normal life complete with a chance at becoming a model. However, her parents were murdered by a robber when she was eighteen. The tragedy quite nearly destroyed the girl, but a year later a serial killer of criminals called "Kira" emerged and incidentally took the life of the murderer.
Misa fell in love with a man that was no more than an alias, and moved to the Kanto region of Japan ostensibly to further her career, but also in order to find and meet Kira. Unbeknownst to her, a shinigami had fallen in love with her. It sacrificed its life to save her from a stalker that would have killed her, and its Death Note as well as the shinigami Rem came to earth. Emboldened by this new turn of events and new abilities, she set out to make contact with Kira by effectively holding a TV Station hostage.
Hijinks ensued. Eventually, using her wits and their shared knowledge of the Death Notes, Misa put herself in a position to find out that Kira was the attractive college student named Light Yagami. Offering herself to be used in any way by him, she became his pawn and he became her faux-boyfriend. She was quickly captured on the suspicion of being the Second Kira, and her memories taken from her but not her love of Light.
Kept under surveillance, yet released from being bound, Misa actually aided in the investigation for a while. When the opportunity came along, she regained her memories and was even released from surveillance, and Misa went back to her career normally even as she kept on killing criminals. L died and so did the shinigami Rem, and Light invited Misa to move in with him. Overjoyed, the two began living as a couple even as the two Kiras were shaping the world. It was all according to Light's plan and almost perfect.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY: Misa is at heart a very charming girl. Her sweetly social nature is the kind of thing that puts people off their guard about her and she loves to make friends. She's upbeat and almost never down, except when it comes to the most extraordinary of circumstances. She is incredibly determined to make things work out right in the end, no matter what.
Though she isn't particularly book-smart, Misa is actually a rather clever girl that is quite resourceful in her own way. An excellent actress, it takes a fairly intelligent person to see through her just for the fact that she always seems so very genuine in everything she does. However, her capacity for initiative means she can and will act impetuously.
The most defining aspect of Misa has to be her absolute devotion and love of Light Yagami. As Kira, Light cemented her love of him by killing the murderer of her parents. For him, she would do anything and is completely happy with being used by him in any way she can. On the flip side, she's also a very jealous young woman and hates the very idea of him being with any other person enough that she threatened to kill any woman he dated.
As a result of her devotion to Light, she is perfectly happy with becoming one of the worst serial killers that the world has ever seen. Human life means very little to her, particularly if it is in line with Light's plans, or her own efforts to please him. It never once enters her mind that she, too, is a criminal because it has always been to help Kira. And one day when he becomes the God of the new world as planned, she intends on being by his side.
Needless to say, her capacity for delusion is pretty significant.
WORLD: Earth with one distinct difference. The existence of shinigami and Death Notes has granted Light and Misa with the ability to end lives. Using this against criminals, the world is in an upheaval as they attempt to cleanse humanity.
ROLE: Church chorus; it would be a good way to promote her talents and so she'll be using that in an attempt to launch her career on Pluto.
