Ever have one of those moments where something (a photo, a name, a scent, etc) startles you and brings back a memory or a thought or a mindset you'd like to forget, and a sort of creeping numbness tingles you while you desparately try to think of something else?

Okay, so it doesn't happen to me much, but it just did. That was really annoying!

What did it remind you of?

A spectacular crash-and-burn from the past. Or, alternately, a recollection of a lot of wasted time? Either way, unwelcome memories. (laugh)

my memory and sense of smell are very closely related. peaches, for instance, remind me of the first girl i ever made out with. play-dough definately brings me back to my childhood, and old library books remind me of my grandmoms house. but then theres polo-sport, which reminds me of the first guy that broke my heart, puppy dog smell reminds me of the first (and last) guy that ever hit me, and lastly horse manure (which sounds completely gross, but since i grew up around it) smells like home.
