Column

Over the past two weeks, I think I've started something like seven columns and finished exactly zero of them. Today, I was reading Bill Simmons' piece about Hunter S. Thompson and he said that Thompson made you think about what you COULD do rather than what you couldn't do. That got me thinking a little bit ( Read more... )

Yeah, remind me to add that into the column...

I forgot about that, actually. Whenever I get a hockey game, I do Isles-Rangers. The Rangers destroyed me on Friday night (well, they won 2-0) once I got NHL '95 again. Richter is nothing short of a human wall in that game.

TECHNICALLY, one of those stops was during the All-Star game, which doesn't count toward regular season stats. And the other was during the Finals, which you really can't argue.

Notice, by the way, that Bure was never feared as much after that point, even though he had 60 goals in a season years later. And as much as I hate Richter, those two saves gave him major respect points in my book. When he played for the USA in the World Cup and Olympics, I actually wanted him to do well.

I hate the NHL too. I wish there was a season where both the Islanders and Rangers did really well so the rivalry could become even more intense.

Very good column. I remember NHL 95 I think, despite being about 8 at the time. I likely only played as Montreal the entire time. I never owned a football title for my SNES, though, so that would be a different experience altogether. Do cheap wraparounds still work far too often in NHL? I always abused that far more than I should have ( ... )

NHL '95 changed my life. It's a very sad commentary on your life when you're so impacted by a hockey game. Yet, it's completely true. But the cheap wraparounds don't really work - today, the one-timer is the way to go, followed up by slapshots from the point that somehow beat the goalie. Happens more than you might think ( ... )

I was looking around for any other NHL 95 blog columns and really enjoyed yours. I think there should be a nationwide tournament for nhl 95. I mean, who wouldn't try their luck and see how well they'd do.
