Yeah, they got clobbered by the Habs, but they were due for it. I'll take that whooping in exchange for them beating the Penguins without Turgeon in the last ever Patrick Division Finals. A lot of people say that the '93 Penguins team was even better than the one that won the Cup in '91 and '92, and that the Isles beat them without their best player (who was taken out by a vicious cheap shot in the Caps series) still blows my mind. I'd say it's one of the top ten upsets in NHL Playoff history, and not just because I'm an Islander fan.

As for 1994... let's just pretend those playoffs never happened. At least not the first round.

For one thing, look at that goalie discrepancy.

Ron Hextall, NYI (21 Saves)
Don Beaupre, WAS (61 Saves)

I mean what the fuck? It's a video game made in 1994. That's 82 shots that did not go through the goalie's grasp. Usually back then they would code it so a goal was scored every so often... but not never.

Also... You must have been playing on the hardest difficulty that has existed in any NHL game. Wow.

Just got back from a basketball tournament, post about it... later.
