a cow providea a substance which inherently nurturing.
cow = good.

a crow is a symbol of death, cowardice, and general sadness.
crow = bad (relatively).

you wanted to be provided with sadness, sadness which tastes to you like nurishment, but the crow obviously can't provide. the crow's got his sadness and he owns it. he's informing you that you can't have it bestowed upon you, because that's not natural. if it happens, it happens, but don't look for sorrow; it comes to you.
