top 5 musicians

krabbypatty asked for my top five musicians, here we go. with pictures and links!

1. Karin Dreijer Andersson

whether it's fever ray or the knife, karin dreijer andersson is ethereal, ghostly and just plain badass. she has this incredible talent in shaping her voice and her image into something that is totally not of this world and pulls it off with awesomeness. you want crazy awesome? karin dreijer andersson is the queen of crazy awesome.
recommended listening: fever ray and silent shout

2. Girls Aloud

GIRLS ALOUD TOTALLY COUNT AS MUSICIANS OKAY? FINE, SO THEY DON'T PLAY THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS AND USUALLY DON'T WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS. WHATEVER. i heart GA like, a lot. they're pretty much the only band in the world that can claim having a legitimate career spring out of being formed on a reality show. A BAND FORMED ON A REALITY SHOW AND CREATING A LEGIT CAREER OUT OF IT? IT'S TRUE. and what i love about that is that the Girls themselves heavily credit their beloved producers Xenomania for their songs; they pretty much consider Xenomania the band's sixth member. Anyway, they're sassy, fun, and everything I want in good pop music. And the Girls's own individual personalities brings a spark into their songs and makes their songs really sparkle.
recommended listening: chemistry and out of control

3. Stars

perfect canadian indie rock. the interplay between the male and female voices sing of the different ways love and relationships affect us and they do this with amazing grace and skill. the band has gone on record to say that any of their song lyrics that they don't believe in don't make it to their records because the passion in their voices wouldn't come across in the songs. they're highly underrated and definitely need more love. my only problem with stars? THEY'RE REALLY FUCKING HARD TO GOOGLE GDI.
recommended listening: the five ghosts and in our bedroom after the war

4. The Reign of Kindo

UNDERRATED AWESOMENESS. amazing and highly underrated indie jazz band from buffalo, NY. tight, crinkling piano and guitars melodies skillfully mesh with deep and passionate vocals make for a highly refreshing sound from all the other indie and alternative bands i listen to. take a look at some of their session videos on youtube: the band meshes together skillfully and just sound like old pros even though as their existence as a band has only been around for four years.
recommended listening: rhythm, chord, and melody and this is what happens

5. Andrew McMahon

ANDREW MCMAHON IS A MUSICAL GOD AND THAT IS ALL. i'm kidding. (maybe not.) something corporate and jack's mannequin are permanent parts of my life and musical library. the man is a god and one of the most amazing people to ever exist. he's insanely talented and funny and his music in both bands speak to everyone. going to his shows is a special experience as he has this ability to make any room feel like a small and intimate show between him and a few good friends. he's leading an amazing life and career and his loyal fanbase will follow him to the end.
recommended listening: leaving through the window and the glass passenger
