Personality:
Calm, cool, and collected, Tessa is usually fairly soft-spoken and
demure--but she's not above playing the damsel-in-distress card to get
someone's attention or empathy, nor does she have any qualms about
telling it like it is. She's usually tactful, but direct; honest, but
doesn't give out unnecessary information--particularly concerning the
afterlife. Her role is primarily to observe, and to point the way,
rather than taking an active role in the political and/or physical
conflict between any of the various mortal or supernatural factions. She
does sometimes give subtle warnings to those who stray into her domain,
but it is up to them whether or not they choose to change their course.
Though she is supposed to remain neutral--after all, Death
comes to everyone, sooner or later, and is no respecter of age, race, or
person--she does feel something akin to empathy for the Winchesters;
and has been following the family for a very long time. She refers to
Dean as “the one that got away,” though Sam, too, has managed to evade
her. At first, she found it quite amusing that both brothers had cheated
death on so many occasions--as did their father before them--but more
recently she has grown somewhat jaded with the whole affair. Nobody
lives forever, and Tessa has all the time in the world--but even reapers
get impatient sometimes. Especially with hunters who have a habit of
throwing a wrench into everything.
AU Background: The
only thing that would be AU is giving her the ability to manifest a
corporeal body, which has never been shown in canon. This could either
be attributed to the peculiarities of the Haunted Mansion, or the fact
that she's Death's right-hand reaper/the boss' daughter.
