Normally I wouldn't do it, but I should be able to do something for some people on my flist (a first-timer, I know), and maybe it's an ides for others as well, to spread some year-end-cheer.

Step One

* Make a post (public, friends-only, filtered to a special list... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from small and digital in nature ("I'd love a custom icon based on _____ artist/film/interest/etc.") to medium ("I wish I had _____ on CD/DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for tangible things (as opposed to icons, graphics, stories, etc. that can be posted to your journal), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your snail-mail address, or just your email address so that potential gift-givers can get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

* Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want, or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it!
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be grant someone else's wishes -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. More political awareness. Seeing the way the so-called content-industry is trying to turn everyone into a criminal for owning a computer (see the newest French law, if you don't believe it...), more lobbying for customer's rights would be great. Write to your politicos, organize demonstrations, whatnot.

2. Roach-icons for my upcoming web site. It's gonna be a game review blog, so a header, and icons for reviews, game news, Commentary on the state of the industry, general commentary would be nice to have. Unfortunately, my own artistic abilities are way sub-par.

3. If you don't have them yet, for you to take up subscriptions to This is True and The True Stella Awards -- the latter is free, and the former also has a free subscription offer. They are great.

4. Again for the web site: a small, low-resolution digicam. A resolution of about 640 X 480 would already be more than sufficient, as the pictures will be set upon the internet, and thereforedon't have to be that high a quality.

5. Suggestions on Anime to watch. I have seen a lot, but am always looking for new and old good Anime that I don't yet know. As to my tastes: I prefer Anime with a strong story, that asks questions about important issues. E.g., Weiss Kreuz I thought was all chrome and no meat, Najica was a strong one in the question of whether Leela is (turning) human and where the borders are, Ranma was good because it was funny...

6. RPG material. I play a lot, and am often a GM/DM, so anything I can use as ideas for adventures is good. Downloads / electronic copies are fine.

7. I wish for people to me more aware of the security risks their computers have. If people were more aware, virus writers, scammers and phishers would IMHO be much less active, because they'd have fewer machines to attack. Install firewall, virus scanner, adware scanner, use them, and get your friends and family to use them, too.

8. (Suggestions for) games to review. OK, I'll try to get the gaming companies to send me new games, but I'd also like to review lots of out-of-print games, especially if they are good.

9. Don't buy from spammers, no matte how much something offered seems to be just what you need. Only if they realize that no one buys their stuff, they might stop their offers. Which would be a great relief to my inbox, even without them using my domain(s) as fake From:-addresses.

10. Movies on DVD. Especially B- and C-movies...

11. (Oh, I know, it shoudl be 10, but...) For all of you to have a Merry Chrismas, Happy Agnostica, Kwanzaa, Winter-een-mas, Hannukkah, Jule, Festivus, New Year or whatever you may be celebrating around this time...
