Andrea never bothered me as much as Lori, and in general I try to resist the fandom things of Hating The Females (Skyler in Breaking Bad, Rita in Dexter--it seems any female that gets the spotlight on her has tons of 'fans' who pray ardently for her death), and you're spot on in this

I would have loved to see that scene where she and Milton essentially killed each other. I understand that they didn't film it so it would be more of a surprise at the end when the group discovered her, but I agree that it would have been a great (and tragic) moment for her character

Boy, your first commenter nailed it when they said "any female that gets the spotlight on her has tons of 'fans' who pray ardently for her death." I've seen that in other fandoms, too, and I wonder why that is.
Andrea made some pretty big mistakes, but they were mistakes anyone could have made (and DID make when it came to judging the Gov, as you pointed out). She did strike a sometimes frustrating balance between badass warrior and tenderhearted civilian -- like last night, when it never occurred to her to talk to Milton AND get her feet around those pliers at the same time! Basically, the woman had flaws, but if she's a fully developed three-dimensional character, then she's supposed to.
I'll never really get all the hate that surrounded her. Then again, I never got it when it happened to Lori, and I didn't like her, myself. I wonder who the haters will hate now, since Maggie and Carol are both fan favorites, and Beth's not seen often enough to piss anyone off. I guess there's always Michonne.
It's so true about women in media, and so depressing! Every time Rick tries something and screws up (which is often, and I love him for it) fans are totally cool with it, but if Andrea is wrong about anything or makes a mistake, people hold it against her forever. Whatever she did, she got crap for it. "She's too mean, like Shane!" "She's too trusting and nice!" She was doomed from the start (or at least, from the moment Lori died and the "most hated woman" slot opened back up). You're completely right - while Andrea did have her flaws, what kind of a character would she be if she didn't?
Thanks for commenting and letting me know I'm not crazy for thinking this! :)
She definitely had her flaws, no denying that, and if you've got an issue with the actress that's a problem that's hard to get around. But she did have legitimate reasons to be angry at Dale, and I think she always was trying to do the right thing, even when she did seemingly messed up things things like the situation with Beth's depression.
Personally, I blame Michonne more than Andrea for their separation - Michonne, after all, was the one who gave the ultimatum and walked out without really explaining her suspicions.
