Pairing: Teddy/Ian
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Teddy and Ian bond over coffee. Sequel to Finally

The coffeehouse was busy, tables taken up by groups of students who had had the same idea as them. Looking in through the window, Ian could see Silver and Liam; there was no way he was going to ask Teddy to do this, not so early in their whatever-it-was.

“We could go to the park or something.” As he spoke, the door to the coffeehouse opened, releasing a strong aroma of coffee beans. He breathed the scent in, felt the craving for caffeine increase and inwardly cursed his addiction to coffee.

Teddy shook his head, “There’s no coffee at the park. We could - if you want to - we could go back to mine. Just for coffee, not you know - not that I don’t want to, I mean-”

“That sounds good.” He bit his lip to stop the bubble of laughter that was threatening to surface; the last thing Teddy needed was to have his nerves laughed at. After his own experience of coming out, he could definitely relate.

They began walking, hands brushing together every so often as they got further away from the school and nearer to Teddy’s place. When they got there, Ian stepped back while Teddy searched for his keys.

“Are you sure about this?”

He span around to look at Ian, “Yes. Come on, inside.”

He followed him in, remembering the last time he’d been here with clarity. Teddy seemed to have the same thoughts when they reached the bottom of the stairs and he changed direction, led them into the kitchen.

Ian smirked, “I believe there was a promise of coffee?”

“Yeah,” Teddy nodded, turned to switch the machine on, “It’ll be ready soon. Are you sure about this?”

“What?”

He pulled on the hem of his shirt as he spoke, “Well, you know want you’re letting yourself in for, right? This is all new to me, and I - if people at school find out-”

“They don’t have to.”

“They will. Eventually. I mean, if we - it’s not fair of me to ask you to hide who you are, to pretend that we’re just friends.”

He took a step closer, placed his hands on Teddy’s hips, “I don’t mind. Not for now, anyway. Like you said, it’s all new for you. I’m not going to push you into anything.”

“I know. How do you take your coffee?”

“Milk, two sugars.” He moved back to give Teddy space to make the drinks, leaned against the counter and watched him. “We’ll just take this thing slowly, okay?”

“Yeah, okay. Have you got much work tonight?”

He shook his head, “It’s all done.”

“You want to watch a movie or something?”

“That’d be good.”

---

They’d only got ten minutes into the movie before they’d began to talk, mostly about random things - the pros and cons of hot chocolate, Christmas - but they covered important things, too. Now, with the credits rolling, Ian glanced at his watch and groaned.

“Teddy.”

“So, anyway, Liam was-”

“Ted.” He nudged Teddy’s side with his toe.

“What?”

“I’ve got to go.”

“Right. Right, okay.” He stood up, pulled Ian up after him and, after a quick pause, pulled him in for a kiss.

They walked towards the front door, holding hands and Ian brushed his thumb over Teddy’s wrist when they stopped moving.

“We could meet up tomorrow, though. If you want. Go to be beach or something.” He pressed his lips against the corner of Teddy’s mouth before heading out the door. He didn’t look back - didn’t need to - because, for the first time since they’d met, he knew that he’d see Teddy again tomorrow.
