"Personhood" Debunked, Southern-Style

By now, you have heard about the referendum in Mississippi to declare fetuses/embryos as "people". The ballot measure failed, as it should have. Is an unborn child a person? Let me put it in a way especially Southerners can understand.

Only in Mississippi can such foolishness be taken seriously.
Only in the South can this sort of argument continue long after Roe v. Wade settled it ... at least for the moment.
Only in America do we have this ridiculous dichotomy of progressive and Luddite thinking.

We should be so lucky to go out as "gently" as Rome did. Just where do we find Visigoths at this late date?
