Therrin's magic computer death touch continues

I would appreciate the help of everyone reading this journal.  I've had the same default icon since I got an icon-9jack9/black mage, the guy who should hopefully be adorning this post.  He has a green hat and a black non-existence for  a face (other than white orbs) and then a green pin stripe suit with a bowtie and his hand is in the picture.   ( Read more... )

I'm using Firefox on a MacBookPro. I've seen your userpic a gazillion times, but today I'm getting the face with the chinese characters up at the top right. No clue, dude!

Same machine, just looked using Safari, and I'm seeing your usual userpic, both here at this link in your entry and on your main page.

Sorry for the oodles of posts, but Greg has heard about this problem happening randomly for other LJ users. It appears to be some sort of cross-browser problem. Certainly shouldn't be a cache issue for me, as I've never seen that other pic before.

Thanks! At least now we have independent confirmation this is LJ's problem. :) The cross browser part is just bizarre.

Yeah, I've never seen that image before in my life either. I wonder who's lj it's from.

So far it seems that you're the only one besides Annie seeing this issue. Interesting. I wonder just what the hell LJ did?

I can see the faceless man again, if you're curious. ;)

I'm seeing the strange version in IE, but after clearing the IE cache it went back to normal. Firefox got the normal one right off, but then it's set to automatically clear the cache between sessions.

So it looks like it's an LJ problem, but may have been a temporary hiccup that is only being experienced now by people who've got it in their cache. Even if they've never seen it, it could have easily gotten there as a pre-load at some point. Whatever the cause, though, you might want to just delete that userpic from LJ completely and upload it anew so it gets a new filename.
