Superheroes that exist only to get punked.
The Sandman* fascinates me as the golden age DC hero of modern death. He shows up regularly in recent DC tv shows...far more regularly than most characters. But he can't seem to make it more than 10 minutes of an episode before he dies. Which makes me wonder: "why do they always kill this guy?" What is it about this character that makes him

That Sandman has very little to do with the classic age Sandman, although he does appear a few times in the series.
To me, Gaiman's Sandman is one of the best comic series ever. It's up there with (but not above) Watchmen.
