If you've been following me on Twitter, you've been getting the real time updates about my trip to LA, but I figured I would post here as well :-) I'm going to try to make this quick though, because I have big plans for tomorrow! Read on to find out more!
My plane landed at 1:30 on Sunday, and it was raining! In Los Angeles! I thought that never happened! I went to pick up my rental car, which when I reserved it online was supposed to be a compact car...somehow when I picked it up, it was a MASSIVE Jeep Liberty. I have never driven a car this big in my LIFE. I was literally shaking with nerves as I started driving this big ass car through the unfamiliar streets/freeways of LA, blindly following my GPS, while simultaneously freaking out with excitement because I was driving straight to Silver Lake...
I drove around and then took like 20 minutes to find parking to go to Intelligentsia. I didn't even care about the coffee, I just wanted to BE there, and to be like "OMG I AM HERE". I have no idea if this is normal or not (I think not) but it was something I've been wanting to do for the past 2 years, so it was awesome.
I was starving, but also like too nervous to eat, but then I decided to search for the nearest In 'n Out Burger, which I've wanted to go to since I read Fast Food Nation years ago. So I drove down Sunset Blvd (!!) and found it...parking there was an adventure, too, but I managed it without scraping any of the expensive cars in the lot and ate a delicious Double Double that was everything I had hoped for.
THEN - thanks to a tip from
eefreeboo, I made my way (like 5 minutes down the street) to the Hollywood Palladium where
Trevor Live was taking place...got there a bit after 5:00 (after driving around, psyching myself up, and finding parking). There was a pretty small crowd waiting outside the fence hoping to see celebrities arriving - I'd honestly expected there to be like massive crowds, but I guess that's more for movie premieres, award shows, etc. Then again, if there had been no one, I definitely wouldn't have gone, so it ended up being the perfect balance. I struck up a conversation with the girls next to me who were crazy Katy Perry fans and had never heard of Zachary Quinto :-/ Not many people had arrived at the event yet. The first person I saw was Kevin McHale from Glee. It turned out that most of the cast of Glee showed up, as well as a bunch of other people - from The New Normal, Parks and Rec, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his boyfriend, and a bunch of random people I didn't recognize...every time a car pulled up, I'd get excited, and then if I saw that it was a girl, I'd be like "boo". Ha ha! Here's the view from the fence...
The other fans waiting at the fence seemed to be most interested in Darren Criss and Chris Colfer. A few people who heard fans yelling for them would turn and wave, but no one came over to the fence like everyone was hoping (including a few of the "genuine" paparazzi that were waiting there along with the fans). The ONLY person who ended up coming over was James Van Der Beek, LOL! He was so nice though...took pictures with people awkwardly through the fence and everything. I think it's 'cause he missed the fame ;-) Still, I kinda love him now (it doesn't take much...) I didn't get a pic with him, but here's one I took where you can not really see half of his face...
FINALLY Zach arrived! AHHHHHHHHH! I was nudging the girls next to me going "Yell 'Zach', yell 'Zach'!" and they did, even though they had no idea who he was. He kind of turned and gave a little wave, and I was like "eep" and that was it. The good thing is that he's so tall, I could totally see his head (and his sexy hair) above everyone else waiting around the red carpet. Also, my camera zoom is awesome, and the lights in the tent were so bright that a bunch of pics actually turned out pretty decent for being so crappy...
Okay, that's probably enough ;-)
Katy Perry showed up last and didn't come over to the fence, much to the girls' dismay. Apparently they've met her before and are called "Katy Cats" or something. I was very amused by them, but also like "huh?" because in my life, my obsessions/fixations have ALWAYS been around guys I find hot...I've never been so obsessed with a girl or someone I admire for their work or want to be friends with, etc. It's always been very crush/attraction oriented for me...so it was a little confusing to me, but I found their enthusiasm very refreshing.
The girls did yell loud enough that the interviewers said something about it and Katy turned and gave them a wave, and I got this pic:
So then today I had to work all day (boring), then I had to pick a restaurant for dinner. We're in downtown LA so not many celebrity-spotting options, but in my 10 minutes of googling I found a restaurant that has 2 chefs that have been on Top Chef Masters so I was like "close enough!"
I have work all day tomorrow and Wed and then leave Wednesday evening, so I was getting kind of bummed that my sight-seeing is over. BUT I came up with an awesome plan. I'm going to go bed early, as soon as I finish this entry - which is 9:30 LA time, but like 12:30 for me East Coast time. Then I'll get up really early, like 5:00 AM...and drive down to where I can see the Hollywood sign(!!) AND THEN...go to LAMILL! :-D This is my plan. Hopefully it will happen as...planned.
If you read this whole thing, I love you. <3 <3 And btw, this project is expected to last like a year, so if you want to come to LA with me next time, just let me know...
