this whole post reminds me of my high school obsession with our local Jr A team, in which all i wanted was to be 18 and thus have a shot with some of the hotties on the team. i went to the game every saturday night with my best girlfriend, whose cousin was hosting two of the out-of-town players, so we thought we were hot shit. i did actually dig out programs from the games when i was home last, and those boys were pretty handsome, even in retrospect.

ahh, hockey!

ahaha, yep. you either played the game or you went to it, and my lack of competitive spirit, my fear of injury, and my skating skills dictated what side of the equation i was on.

I am stockholmed into... well, not finding them attractive, but not not finding them attractive. I even think Grabovski is okay looking /o\

Brian Burke is our GM. He was GM in Vancouver when they drafted the Sedins and GM in Anaheim when they won the cup in 07. He also used to have Colin Campbell's job (L.O.L.). Two Novembers ago, his youngest son Brendan (involved in hockey, though not as a player) publicly came out, and Brian Burke publicly stood behind him. And is on the record saying that people are welcome in any organization he's in charge of no matter what their sexuality. And he will basically hurt you if you try to fuck with someone because they're gay. And then a year ago today (;____________________;) Brendan died in a car accident. Brian walked in the Pride parade with PFLAG last year in his honour/memory and I totally cried. You can google him for more, he's a pretty big deal.

- Jonas Gustavsson looks like he plays a mean game of tennis.

- I love Luke Schenn and his ridiculous cheddar teeth.

- Can you get me Mike Brown's phone number? He seems like a dude I'd like to drink a beer with.

- Is Mikhail Grabovski the dude who watches cartoons with his kid to learn more English? Because that is the dude of my heart right there.

- LOL DAVE HANSON. Do you think it's weird to play hockey when your dad is Dave Hanson? It's like... if Robert Redford were my dad and I played baseball. Well, I guess only if Robert Redford played pro ball. But that's not the point. My point is, do you think Christian Hanson has a horrible pair of glasses and a pair of overalls stashed somewhere?

I would like to see Jonas Gustavsson in tennis whites dripping sweat, yes sirrrrreeeeeeeeee.

Isn't Mike Brown awesome?? his first game back after healing his broken finger he got suspended three games for a dirty hit, hahaha.

I think that might be Nikolai Kulemin; Grabo's kid was literally born at the beginning of January.

I think he's very serene about the fact his dad is Dave Hanson. This picture exists, though:

This is the point in the conversation where I would use a terrible tennis pun to emphasize the fact that he is pretty bone-worthy. But I know more about curling than I do about tennis. My tennis knowledge boils (lol) down to the fact that I know a zero score in tennis is called love because it sounds like l'oeuf, which a zero kind of looks like. I can't do anything sexy with that. Je refuse.

I guess Nikolai Kulemin will have to be the dude of my heart then. I'm flexible.

And that is my most favorite thing I've seen all week. I will treasure it.

Having grown up in Chicago, I'm not sure what I would do with a good sports team; it seems like the possibility of success would make the games too stressful to watch.

But the important question is: who is banging who here, and where can I read about it?

ALSO: are Orr & Brown fighting each other in that picture? Did they not have an opposing team to fight with?

Hey, the Blackhawks are pretty awesome right now! They won the cup last year, possibly due to the magic of how COMPLETELY GAY they all are. And also weren't the Bulls really good in the 90s with Jordan? I appreciate your condundrum, anyway. The Jays won those back-to-back World Series when I was a kid and shit has been dowwwwwwwwwnhill from there.

None of the Leafs are banging each other. They are a constant source of disappointment like that. Good thing we've got the Hawks... if you like glorious glorious id-stroking not-quite-goodfic, check out 2mins4slashing (all flocked, but open membership) and if you want fic by former(?) bandom people, activesticks and AO3 are your goldmines.

Orr and Brown are in practice jerseys so they are clearly sparring for shits and grins at practice, I guess because they can.

When I heard that the Blackhawks had won the cup last year, I was like, Wait, the Chicago Blackhawks? Clearly, I have not been following them closely. Or at all.

The Bulls were awesome for most of the 1990s, that's true. They won the championship 3 years in a row, didn't make it the next year, and won 3 more years in a row. I always felt like the Bulls sucked up all of Chicago's past, present, and future sports success quota with that run.

if you like glorious glorious id-stroking not-quite-goodfic...And I dooooooo, not gonna lie. I will totally check those out! I don't know if I'm emotionally ready for another RPF fandom, but I am a sucker for anything team-related.

Oh, Phil Kessel. When the trade went down, all the local writers were all "...he does know Toronto is a BIGGER hockey market, right?" Because, yeah, shy, introverted, not necessarily great at taking a joke, etc. etc. Oh well. He can still look real pretty flying down the ice sometimes.

I'm never going to be a Leafs fan for conflicting fandom reasons, but I am vaguely intrigued by this Optimus Reim fellow. I blame PPP and Puckinghilarious. Twitter! It makes me like people on teams I don't like!

And, in conclusion, &STEEGER; because I still think of him as the Peeb who got away in some ways.

The Statue let in five goals against Buffalo tonight, but I swear to god we are fucking cursed in that arena. There was a great article about him in the Globe just recently, I think @mirtle linked to it this afternoon.

The PPP guys on twitter are amazing. They keep me entertained all day every day. Except when they start arguing with Mirtle or Wysh, then it's like mommy and daddy are fighting and me no likey.
