DID YOU KNOW THAT:

This stinks!

Well, ok, to be fair, in a literal sense this stinks less, since we've got water back. But this whole no food thing? Yeah. That's bad. I'm about to start taking shots of pure glucose over here.

Oh and our buddies with the graffiti sure aren't any help. "Have a bite" huh? Of what? Our own limbs? Each other ( Read more... )

People have been coming up with their own interpretation of the "bite" graffiti. I'm starting to hope that no one gets any dangerous ideas. God knows the last thing we need are Hannibal Lecters running around.

We're making do with what little food we've got. I've been considering hiking up north to see if I could find any abandoned super markets and grocery outlets. Worth a try.

I'm just hoping we're not supposed to start to go and eat those crab things.

Yikes. Let's hope not.

In theory, eating the crabs might not be such a bad idea. Chefs in Japan managed to figure out a way to eat the Fugu fish without getting poisoned, despite it being on of the most deadly animals on the planet.

Of course, we don't have any real way to test what parts are safe except trial and error at this point, so... maybe not. Still, I'd rather take my chances on that than turning to Soylent Green.

So then there's still the possibility that the things might be edible? I mean, I wouldn't bet any money on it, but at this point anything would be better than eating my roommates.

I think it's possible. As long as they're made of protein and carbohydrates the human body can use it. The problem is with whatever it is that causes infection in bites. If it's a venom, like snakes, then it can be avoided. But what if it's more like a poisonous frog? That's harder to deal with.

My personal theory is that it's something in the saliva, since it's the bites that cause the trouble.

A more important question is, at what point are we desperate enough to try?

If it'll get your mind off things, I wouldn't mind a little help at the shop riggin' a few things. Might get some good ideas out of it, and it might just get peoples' minds off things...

Things'll turn around somehow. They might get worse first, but they'll look up in the end.

'Sides, I don't think I'd make a good meal for anyone, and there ain't nearly enough meat on them crabs, what I seen of 'em.

Hey, that's right! Now that the snow's melted, it's alot easier to get around too.

We can only hope for the best, but the way things are going now, it's a little hard to keep up that optimism. I've usually got alot of that to go around, too, but I guess low blood sugar'll do that to a guy.

I'll be stopping by soon, is that ok?

I want to see some Christmas lights... I think they'd help people forget about how hungry they are!

Yeah, I think you're right. I mean, some people'll probably call it a waste of time, but I guess we can always call them scrooges right back.

The show must go on, Bill. It's the least we can do, right?

"Least" is about right. This whole thing is just one huge bummer. If there really is somebody out there in charge of this just to mess with us, this can be our way telling them we're not gonna just roll over and take it. And if there isn't actually anybody paying attention... well, hopefully we can have a decent time anyway.

Well, there's no sense in giving up! I vote for going ahead with the whole Christmas lights proposal, personally. Every little thing that might make our situation seem just a bit less dreary on Christmas is worth doing, I think. In my experience, it's the little things like that which seem to give humans an extraordinary amount of hope.
