I'll be honest with anyone who is reading this right now, i do not really understand the point of a live journal, i was raised with the impression that journals and diaries and other documents that work towards the same end of chronicling one's personal thoughts for future contemplation. the experience of reading live journals in the past always left me feeling that these were some kind of narcissistic method of complaining and yelling at people without actually being rude and doing it. Reading this journal and a few others of recent publication, such as Jeff Krachun's, allows me the opprotunity to explore journals that document one's life in an objective if not frequent manner. Knowing my procratinating and lazy nature would make such a device useless to me, but now, watching Miller's Crossing and listening to another of Carter Burwell's beautiful scores, i find myself in a reflective and spontaneous mood. It has been an interesting weekend for me, touching on all bases that this odd year has encompassed. i am left at odds and ( ... )

But consider those three aspects of your life and imagine if you did not improve upon them. would you be happy? probably not, but here is a better question, could you be happy? have we allowed ourselves the ability to be happy with just being. Consider if you stayed the same on those three aspects, some would call you lucky, an "even steven" but the more established term is "stagnation," which of course comes with a certain taboo to it. but if you progress in those areas, there is no thought about it, you are happy. Aristotle in a search for happiness came to the conclusion that happiness is not a destination that we arrive at, but a state of mind and practice we must discipline ourselves to experience. So that you do not have to wait to get "that car" or "that girl" to have everything you world be right. so that you can be happy in all situations. So there may be a select few who see progression and may shy away from it for fear of change. Change, it is one of the most widespread fears of all, ask anyone their darkest fear ( ... )
